Journey to Antarctica:

The White Continent

Wilderness Medicine Conference, 10 CME 2015
14 Days | Aboard National Geographic Explorer | December 7-20, 2015

Glide around enormous tabular icebergs by Zodiac, walk along beaches covered with thousands of penguins, and kayak amid
abundant wildlife. Learn about the Lindblad legacy, dating from 1966, as you travel with Ice Masters, Expedition Leaders and
Naturalists who have hundreds of journeys under their parkas. On every expedition, a National Geographic Photographer will
give talks and one-on-one photo tips in the field, where it counts. An Undersea Specialist captures rarely seen footage of life
beneath the icy surface for viewing in the comfort of the ships lounge. Join us on our classic Antarctica itinerary.

IGUAZ FALLS
Post-Voyage / 3 Days
Taller than Niagara, Iguaz Falls is also twice as wide with 275
cascades spread in a horseshoe shape over nearly two miles of the
Iguaz River. The grandeur of the falls, the tremendous amount of
thundering water, the tropical setting and its sheer beauty once
led Eleanor Roosevelt to say poor Niagara. Situated in Iguaz
National Park in northeastern Argentina, this natural sanctuary is a
UNESCO World Heritage site, owing to its beautiful landscapes and
subtropical forest, with 450 species of birds, including toucans and
parrots, and butterflies, orchids and endangered jaguars.
We view the Falls from several perspectives: via jetboat at river-level, and high above the rushing waters,
immersed in mist, on naturalist-led walks along a series of catwalk paths. The monumental Devils Throat
(Garganta del Diablo) is the culmination of our experience as the air fills with vapor and water thunders 350
feet down into a river canyonan incredible display of raw power.

EASTER ISLAND
Post-Voyage / 4 Days
Follow your Antarctica expedition with a visit to one of the most
mysterious places on earthEaster Island. Home to silent sentinels
of a long lost culture, this tiny island is located 2,300 miles west of
Chile in the Pacific Ocean and almost 1,200 miles from its nearest
island neighbor. Learn about the ancient Rapa Nui culture that grew
up in isolation. Where did these people come from and why did they
carve more than 600 giant moai or stone statues? Learn from key archaeologists on this fascinating extension.

BUENOS AIRES
Pre-Voyage / 2 Days
Before embarking on your expedition take time to explore one of
the worlds most intriguing cities. See its famous architecture,
explore the most interesting neighborhoods, visit top museums,
and take in a tango performance on an extension curated to
provide the very best that Buenos Aires has to offer.
