Power Mate Floodlights. Efficient, sealed, completely
weatherproof optical systems produce narrow, medium
and wide beam patterns for maximum application flexi-
biiity. A unique, unitized, self contalned ballast assembly
with quick-twist mounting feature simpl ifies installation
and maintenance. A wide variety of mounting acces-
sories add to the versatility of Power Mate Floodlights.

This specification covers Mccraw-Edison Power
N4ate Floodlights for use with 400, 1000 and 1500
watt high intensity discharge lamps.
Fioodlight - sha ll be catalog number (specify) and
shall include the following features.
Eallast housing-shall be die cast aluminum and
shall contain all electrical components. lt shall be
supported by the optical assembly by means of at-
tachment to a die cast aluminum optical support
with a quick-twist locking device. The ballast hous-
ing shall have a hinged and gasketed weatherproof
cover and shall contain an isolated wiring compart-
ment.
Optical support-shall be die cast aluminum and it
shall support the optical assembly by means of 6
platedsteel screws and attach to the ballast hous-
ing by means of two qu:ck-twist cast lugs and two
screws. lt shall support a plated mounting trunnion
and have a positioning quadrant with reposition-
ing stop. lt shall be gasketed at both attachment
points and shall interface with the reflector and bal-
last housing with metalto metal contact to prevent
any gasket deterioration.
Optical assembly-The optical assembly shall be
sealed and completely weatherproof. lt shall con-
sist of a single piece, spun aluminum reflector
finlshed with Alzak* process, a hinged lens ring and
clear, flat, tempered glass lens. The lens ring shall
be held in place by four (4) stainless steel spring
clamps.

Shroud-shall be heavy duty spun aluminum
and shall completely envelop the reflector for
protection.
Lamp Stabilizer- shall be insulated and shallcush-
ion the lamp from shock or vibration to eliminate
breakage. ln conjunction with the socket, it shall
maintain precision lamp alignment.
Power Mate ballast assemblies - sha ll carry a label
as U.L. listed.

4.To install lamp or re-lamp,
loosen two trunnion lock-
ing bolts and swlng the
floodlight to an upright po-
sition. Unsnap four latches
on the hinged lens frame
and swlng open. lnstall
lamp, close and latch lens.
Swing fixture down. A re-
positioning stop will allow
fixture to return to its origi-
nal position without re-
aiming. Tighten two lock-
ing trunnion bolts.

ON APPLICATION

Off-Vertical Burning Angles of Metal Halide Lamps ON APPLICATION

A characteristic of metal halide lamps is a reduction in lu-
men output when burned at off-verticalangles. This should
be allowed for in lighting layout calculations.
The table gives percent of lumen output of metal halide
lamps at various bu rn ing positions.
