The code I M A G E was written to provide for statistical data reduction,
calculation of several stereological parameters, and particle size distribution estimation. For each type measurement the following statistics are calculated: mean, standard deviation, variance, coefficients for skewness and kurtosis, and percent difference of each data point from the mean of that measurement. Stereological parameters such as volume fraction, mean chords size, mean interparticle spacing, and surface area are calculated. The particle size distribution estimation is based on a Spector [1] type analysis using 15 chord sizes. T h e code contains four plotting options including 35 m m and line printer plots. A detailed write-up and listing of the code may be obtained from the authors.
