PREFACE
DIRECTOR
Educational Planning and Research Division
Ministry of Education Malaysia

T he Quick Facts series have a long-standing reputation as an imperative

reference for the overview of Malaysian educational data and statistics.
Published by the Educational Planning and Research Division (EPRD),
the publication encompasses statistical data on enrolment from pre-
primary to tertiary, teachers and schools, public examinations, education
expenditures, international education indicators and also basic
demographic information.

In Quick Facts 2016, the world education indicators were reported

according to the newly improved International Standard Classification of
Education (ISCED) 2011. ISCED 2011 will contribute to the production of
even more reliable and comparable international statistics on education,
reflecting the current education scenario in Malaysia.

I believe that this publication will provide wide-ranging benefits to

various users from the decision makers at the Ministry level, academics
requiring data for further analysis to the general public at large.

Hence, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for

all divisions, ministries and agencies which have provided educational
data and information for Quick Facts 2016.

DATO SULAIMAN BIN WAK
