FOREWORD

Tl~is Imdiim Stondard was adopted by the Bureau ot lndian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Plastic
Pipin: Systems Sectional Committee had been approved by the Civil Engineering Division Council.

This standard specifies the requirements for pipes manufactured from Polypropylene-Random Copolymer (PPR),
intended to be used for conveyance of hot and cold water piping system for inside and outside buildings and solar
~vater heating piping systems.

In the formulation of this standard, considerable assistance has been derived from 1S0 15874-1 :2003 Plastic
piping system for hot and cold water installation Polypropylene Part 1: General and 1S0 15874-2:
?003 Plastic piping system for hot and cold water installation Polypropylene (PP) Part 2: Pipes. The sizes
of pipes, however, have been kept as per rnanufacluring practices being followed in India and have been derived
from DIN 8077 ; 1999 07 Polypropylene (PP) pipes. Allowable maximum operating pressures for pipes at
difftmm[ temperatures have also been derived from DIN 8077 : 1999 - 07 by considering 25 years of service.

FtJt- the purpose of deciding whether a ptirticular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final
Y3]11c, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with
IS ? : 1960 Rules for rounding off numerical values (mi,scd). The number of significant places retained in the
roL(nded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
