ID-PLUG.

After connection establishment the ID-PLUG is

programmed by the base station via the I/O
device. For additional information, refer to the
data sheet for the FL BT MOD IO AP.

Delete and Reprogramming Function

In case the Factory Line base station is changed or
replaced in the existing Bluetooth network, the ID-
PLUG must be reprogrammed for Bluetooth log-on.
Remove the ID-PLUG from the I/O device and connect
the power supply. The ID LED flashes yellow for
approximately 10 seconds. Within this time plug in the
ID-PLUG. The ID-PLUG is deleted and then
reprogrammed. Green flashing of the ID LED indicates
successful programming. The I/O devices is ready
again for Bluetooth network log-on.

Attention
In general: If the ID-PLUG is not plugged in the
I/O device when connecting the power supply,
the delete and reprogramming function starts
for a short period. Plugging in the ID-PLUG
within this period, deletes it and reprograms it
for Bluetooth network log-on mode. Previous
connection data is lost.

Connection Notes

Meet noise immunity requirements

Connect FE using a mounting screw or a cable
connection to the FE connection latch (when
mounting on a non-conductive surface).

Ensure degree of protection

To ensure IP65 protection, cover unused
female connectors with protective caps.

Avoid damage to the electronics

Only supply the sensors with voltage US
provided at the terminal points.

Avoid polarity reversal

Avoid polarity reversal of the supply voltages
UL, US, and UA in order to prevent damage to
the device.

Observe connection assignment

When connecting the sensors and actuators,
observe the assignment of the connection
points to the IN and OUT process data.

Antennas
The aim of Phoenix Contact wireless transmission solutions
is to provide users with the simplest possible access to the
"wireless" transmission medium.
This is why the complex area of antenna technology is
restricted to a minimum. In order to set up reliable systems,
some basic features of antenna technology need to be
taken into consideration.

Antenna Alignment Figure 8 Ideal antenna installation

During installation, please observe that there should be a
line of sight between two antennas because each obstacle
between them deteriorates the connection.
Furthermore, please observe that the Fresnel zone
expands around the direct connecting line between the
transmitting and receiving antennas. If this zone is affected
by obstacles or the terrain, the wireless connection is
deteriorated.
Figure 8 illustrates an ideal installation with undisturbed
connection.
Figure 9 Fresnel zone adversely affected by the terrain
In Figure 9, the Fresnel zone is adversely affected by the
terrain. Although there still is a line of sight between the low-
in-height antenna masts, the Fresnel zone cannot be
formed completely.
In Figure 10, the connection is attenuated by obstacles in
the Fresnel zone, even though there is a line of sight.
The radius of the Fresnel zone depends on the
transmission frequency and the distance between the
transmitting and receiving antennas.
The radius corresponds to the minimum height of the Figure 10 Fresnel zone adversely affected by obstacles
antenna mast (if the terrain is level). For a 2.4 GHz system,
the mast height R/m, depending on the distance to be
covered D/m, is given in the characteristic curve in
Figure 11.

Example (Figure 11):

For a distance of 100 m, the antenna should be installed at
a minimum height of 1.80 m to provide a clear Fresnel zone.

Figure 11 Radius R of the Fresnel zone over distance D
