Subjective Absolute Truth

It sounds contradicting, subjec-
tive absolute truth. I encoun-
tered a student on Grand Val-
ley’s campus who thought just
that.
I and my friend, AJ, had a great
conversation with a student
named Zack. He was very inter-
ested in spiritual things, having
grown up in a Christian home
and now studying eastern relig-
ions he is looking for what brings
him peace and oneness with
God.
As we talked further I asked if
he believed in absolute truth, as
the lines were seeming to be
blurred. He responded quickly
with a “yes” but proceeded to
explain that whatever I believe is
absolute truth for me and what-
ever he believed was absolute
truth to him. I was stumped. I
wasn’t sure how to respond. I
wanted to be loving and sensitive
but also convicting in revealing to
him the absolute truth that is
God. Thankfully, AJ was there to
help the conversation move for-
ward.
We talked for an hour about a
number of different spiritual top-
ics, I’m not sure how much he
soaked up and how much he
shrugged off but I’m praying that
God will use that conversation to
bring Zack one step closer to
Him.
After being away from Grand
Valley for two years and even
away from ministry on campus
for almost a year now it was re-
freshing seeing God work in that
hour. It also opened my mind to
the spiritual climate at Grand
Valley, which is probably com-
mon at most Universities. As I
get ready for my move to the
University of Virginia I can only
pray that God will prepare me
and give me the wisdom to serve
those students who don’t know
him and challenge them to be-
lieve in The Way, The Only Way,
The Absolute Truth, our Creator,
our God.

Missions Conference
I will be speaking at a missions conference held at Hope United Methodist Church in Hastings, Michi-
gan on Saturday, April 25th at 7pm. If you are in the area I would love for you to come and be a part of
this event. If you cannot attend, please pray for the conference, the missionaries speaking and the
people listening, that God would be present and everyone would be encouraged by the good work God
is doing all over the world for his glory.

Support Status and Personal Update

It’s not news that the economy is in poor shape right now, but I have hope in these things: that it’s also not
news that God is in control of the world’s resources, God has called me to this mission and therefore will pro-
vide the means to do so, and He has also called you to be a part of this mission with me and I am not alone in
this journey. God has really blessed me in my time of support raising, I am currently at 46% of my goal, after
only two months! Thank you for following God’s call in your life to come along side of me in this mission, in-
vesting your prayers and finances in things of eternal significance.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and
where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
