MINUTES OF DRILL/EXERCISE:
1630HRS: Master closed up on bridge, sounded emergency alarm,
Announcement made by PA system for drill vessel having structural failure.
1632- All crew mustered at muster station, head count taken, life jackets
checked. Found no casualty. Bridge informed every body require to muster at
bridge for briefing.
1633-1700 hrs. Master briefed the crew incase of structural failure following
immediate actions to be taken as per F.O.M. 9.5.10:-
a) Sound Alarm signal, call Master, Inform Engine Room.
b) Check for damage to vessel, damage to cargo and possible leakage or fire
arising from damage. Check for oil pollution.
c) If vessel getting excessive list or trim take necessary action to maintain
the stability of the vessel.

d) Report shore management team by fastest and most efficient means.
Keep them on continuously informed.
e) To prevent further damages reduce speed or stop if required, carry out
temporary repair.
f) Prepare all LSA/FFA items standby. Keep crew stand by. Keep radio station
stand by with updated position. Display appropriate signals.
g) Sound all tanks, identify which tanks are flooding and extent of damage.
h) start deballasting, if required use portable pump for deballasting.
i) Check stability of the vessel and determine whether vessel can cope up
with flooding. If possible carry out temporary repair or make all efforts to
reduce the ingress of water.
j) If damage due to welding failure, drill holes at the ends to arrest further
propagation.
k) If vessel can cope up with flooding proceed at slow speed to port of
refugee or beach the vessel to prevent sinking.
l)Record all actions in log book.
