The genres in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are good versus evil, fantasy, and young

adult.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows conforms with the genre of good versus evil by having Harry
and his allies take on the evil Voldemort and his relentless army. Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows conforms with the fantasy genre by having fantastical animals and fabled people, these
include dragons, elves, goblins, basilisk, giant spiders, and giants, these arent real and therefore
conform with the genre of fantasy. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows conforms with the genre of
young adult as the protagonists are young adults, and the text deals with death on more than once
occurrence which can be hard on young children so it is made for older ages.

The themes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows include: good versus evil, sacrifice, and love.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows conforms with the theme of good versus evil, with the battle
between Voldemort and his death eaters and Harry and his friends. Voldemort and his army
representing the evil, and Harry and his friends the good of the world. Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows follows the theme of sacrifice as Harry himself sacrificed himself in order for his friends to
take down the dark lord. Other sacrifices throughout the book include; Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin,
Nymphadora Lupin, and Severus Snape. In particular Fred, Remus and Nymphadora giving their life
for the battle and to protect Harry. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows follows the theme of love
as once everything is over and Voldemort has been killed, there is no war to fight in and the
characters are finally able to be normal and love each other again.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows follows Harry and his friends in a fight against Voldemort and
his death eaters at Hogwarts. Many sacrificing their lives for the cause and to defend the castle from
attack. By the time the final book is underway there is still 3 horcruxes needing to be killed and one
needing to be found at the castle itself. Once found it is a matter of time to kill them and take
Voldemort down himself. They couldnt have predicted though the stunning revelation that Harry
himself is a horcrux, needing to die. Once the battle is won and finished Harry and his friends return
to their normal lives.

I would recommend this book to my classmates as it is the final chapter in the Harry Potter series
and is one of the best in my opinion. To see the characters come all this way is a very interesting and
heartfelt reading experience and is very emotional as when a character dies since they have come
this long with you its as if you lost a friend. The epic showdown between good and bad at the end is
another reason to read this book and overall the action and spell casting is very frequent leaving a
refreshing edge in comparison to earlier books. The fun plotline and interesting developments in
characters is very interesting. The book is great and I would strongly recommend. (Rowling, 2007)
The five things I liked about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were:

1. The deathly hallows themselves, I liked how they were already existent in the lore and were
very important and helpful to Harry, I liked the story of the deathly hallows and found it very
interesting. I like how the deathly hallows were very physical and could be used whereas the
other books had places or people.
2. I liked the sacrifices, though it may sound awful I liked the people that died and that their
loss was important in the future life of Harry and his friends, George Weasley of course
naming his son Fred, and I liked how the death of Lupin had a very harsh effect on Harry and
that he saw Lupin in the resurrection stone sequence.
3. I liked the final battle and found it very refreshing, the spell casting and charms being said
seemed as they were real and the fight scenes were engrossing.
4. I like the horcrux complex that Harry had, it was very surprising and was very interesting,
and made his sacrifice, though short lived very meaningful and made a difference in the end.
5. I liked the hunt for the horcruxes and the struggle of finding a suitable weapon to destroy
them. The fact that Harry, Ron and Hermione were able to each destroy a horcrux gave a lot
more balance to the trio instead of Harry being the brawn and Hermione the brains, it really
made Ron a big impact of the trio. The destruction of the horcruxes were very cool too and
reading the description of the destruction after like the diadem exploding in the fire and the
basilisk tooth in the cup was very well written and I admire that.
