DAILY LESSON PLAN

Subject Physics
Date 14 June 2017
Time
Form 4 Pintar
No. of students /33
Title Forces and Motion
Students prior knowledge Students have learnt the definition of energy, gravitational
potential energy and kinetic energy.
Learning Objective 1. Understanding energy, power and efficiency
Learning Outcomes At the end of the lesson, students are able to:
1. State the principle of conservation of energy
2. Define power and state that P=W/t
3. Explain what efficiency of a device is
4. Solve problems involving work, energy, power and
efficiency
Moral values Critical thinking, cooperation, and confident.
Teaching tools Power point slide, text book, module book, marker pen and
whiteboard.
Induction Set 1. Teacher asks students to consider a case of diver
2. When the diver is at the top, what is her gravitational
potential energy? (maximum)
3. As the diver free falls, what happen to her gravitational
potential energy? Kinetic energy? (decreases, increases
with increased velocity)
4. The moment before the diver reaches the pool, all the
gravitational potential energy has been converted into other
energy forms, mostly kinetic energy.

1 - State the 1. Referring to the case of the diver, teacher asks -PPT slide
principle of the students is the energy is conserved or not? -module book
conservation of - The energy in a system always remains -marker pen
energy the same. -whiteboard
- The energy is conserved when it changes
from one form to other forms of energy.
2. Students are required to state the principle
of conservation of energy.
- The principle of conservation of energy
states that energy can be changed from one
form to another form, but it cannot be created
or destroyed.
3. Students are asked to give example of activity that
shows the principle of conservation of energy.
4. Students are asked to do Examples page 105 and
discuss the answer with the class.
2 - Define power 1. Teacher explains the definition of power. - PPT Slide
and state that - Power is defined as the rate of work done or the - module book
P=W/t rate of energy transformed. - marker pen
- can also be represented by the formula of; - whiteboard
Power, P = Work/time = Energy/time
- SI unit of power is watt, W or Js-1
- A power of 1 W is generated when 1 J of work is
done in 1 s

2. Teacher shows one example to calculate power.

(page 77)
3 - Explain what - PPT Slide
efficiency of a 1. Teacher explains what efficiency of a -module book
device is device/system is. -marker pen
- The efficiency of a system is the capability of - whiteboard
the system to do work
- the efficiency of a device can be calculated by
using the formula of efficiency which is ;
Efficiency = Output power/Input power x 100%
2. Students are asked to do examples page 106 and
107 by group.
3. the answer will be presented and discussed in
the class
4 - Solve 1. Each group will choose one manila card written - marker pen
problems the no of question (page 107) - whiteboard
involving 2. The question have to be solved by group
work, energy,
power and 4. The answer will be written on the white board
efficiency and presented.
5. Teacher will check students answer.
6 - Conclusion - mind map
1. Teacher uses mind map/i-THINK map to - marker pen
conclude todays lesson. - whiteboard

Assignment Students are required to do complete all the exercises in Module book
pg. 103-110. The exercise book have to submit in the following class.
Evaluation Students can answer the questions asked in the class. They are also can
solve the problem involving work, energy, power and efficiency.
