Specialising in Organic

Culinary, Aromatic, Decorative

and Medicinal Herbs
Welcome to our 2010 ‘taster’ catalogue: my top 100 herbs.
I’ve been growing herbs organically for almost thirty years now,
and today grow over 600 varieties here on the farm in rural South
Gloucestershire.
Our range of herbs and seeds is rather large these days, and
customers often ask “Which herbs do you recommend?” Hence this
‘inspirational’ catalogue. It’s arranged in chapters, to help you to
plan your herb garden.
To see our entire 600+ herb varieties, you may wish to order our
Complete Herb List (pg 54) or visit our website. Because we grow
seasonally, not all of our herbs are available all the time. To find out
what’s available now, and place your order, visit our website. If you
Jekka McVicar, prefer to use the order form at the back of this catalogue, that’s fine
as seen at BBC and we’ll do our very best to fulfil the order, but remember, we grow
Gardener’s World seasonally so not everything’s available all the time.
Live Show 2009
I really hope you enjoy my top 100 herbs - brew up a fresh pot of
aromatic rosemary tea, sit back, feet up, and find inspiration!

Herb Farm Open Days - Visit Us
Usually our herbs are only available by mail order. However, five times each year we
welcome the public to visit the farm. Come along and browse and buy herbs, attend (pre-
bookable) herb workshops with multi-award winning Jekka, or follow our twice daily farm
tour. See our Calendar of Events on page 3 for dates.

We’re open from 10am-4pm on each open day. Visit our website for details, to pre-book herb
workshops, and sign up to our newsletter to be reminded.

Flower Shows - Visit Us

Jekka’s Herb Farm has been awarded over 60 RHS gold medals, including 14 at the Chelsea
Flower Show alone. For our Chelsea 2009 exhibit, we were truly honoured to receive the
Lawrence Medal for the best exhibit at any RHS flower show during the year: a first for
an organic nursery, and a first for a herb nursery! At Hampton Court Palace we received
the Tudor Rose award for the Best Floral Exhibit for two years running: an unprecedented
achievement. In 2010, we’ll have stands at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show, the Chelsea
Flower Show and Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. See our Calender of Events on page
3 for dates, and check our website for further details.

Herbs Wishlist
We made some changes to our website last year. Our herbs are available seasonally
according to the species, so our website now shows you what is currently available to order.
But if your desired herb is unavailable, you can add it to your online wishlist and we‘ll drop
you an email when it becomes available.

Advice
Gardening advice and seasonal tips are always freely available on our website, and we will
enclose a general Herb Care info’ sheet with your order. If you require advice about the
status of your order, please email sales@jekkasherbfarm.com. During the height of the
season we regret that we are unable to offer general gardening advice, but we do recommend
that you contact the Royal Horticultural Society.

Why Organic?
Jekka’s Herb Farm has always grown herbs organically, and is certified
by the Soil Association.
Organic herbs attract bees, birds and butterflies, enhancing pollination
and increasing yields. By growing organically, you not only create
a beautiful garden teeming with wildlife, you also increase the
productivity and health of the plants you grow.

Our herbs are grown free from pesticides, herbicides and other harmful chemicals and we
use only organically certified products, and plant feeds which do not contain manufactured
nitrates. We use organic, peat-free compost based on wood fibre and bark.

Our plants are
