MS Excel

Open Excel using icon X, or click Start, Programs, MS Office then Excel
Examine the various toolbars.
Take note of new icons e.g AutoSum, Insert Function, Currency Style etc.
Excel contains Rows which are identified by numbers and Columns identified by
letters. A Cell identifies the intersection of a row and column e.g A1. Data in a
cell can be referenced by its cell address e.g = A1*B1/C3
Click on each cell to enter data. Use F2 to edit data in the cell.

Formatting
Data can be formatted as desired using options available in the format menu or the
icons on the formatting toolbar. To format the number 20 as 20 dollars perform
the following steps:-
Enter 20 in Cell A1
Highlight the cell
Select format from menu, cell, number, currency, change decimal places to 2, and
currency symbol to $. NB* This could be achieved from shortcut using icons.

Formula/Function
A Formulae may be inserted in a spreadsheet for efficiency. Instead of retyping
the same information to accomplish the same task for different data, a formula
may be derived and applied to multiple areas of the spreadsheet. A simple formula
includes =SUM(A1:A3). This will add data from cell A1 to Cell A3. This could
also be inserted using the function bar. A Function is a predefined formula
template stored in Excel, which can be accessed and modified as desired.
Click on the menu option Insert, then Function and view other types of functions
available in Excel.
Charts
Click on Insert, Charts, select a chart type and follow wizard instructions, or
Highlight the data first that will be shown on chart and the repeat the steps above.
NB* To select non-adjacent data for a chart, after highlighting the first piece of
data, press the CRTL button while highlighting the other data in the spreadsheet.
The chart can be formatted as desired i.e inserting values, title etc. NB* A chart
can be inserted in another sheet or in the current sheet as an object.
