TECHNO WATER

Bay City Techno Co. Ltd has developed a revolutionary system in processing
contaminated sea, river, lake, pond water.

fresh mineral water without using chemicals

processing unit or units can be delivered in containers or on trucks as a mobile unit
if in remote areas the electricity power is provided through solar panels and wind turbines
low energy consumption (rotary piston pump & RO membrane)
obtained drinking water can be bottled and put on the market as mineral water

Japanese process system does not use chemicals and is

the only process who can treat contaminated/polluted
water into mineral level quality water.
According to a 2007 World Health Organization report, 1.1 billion people lack access to an improved drinking water supply,
88% of the 4 billion annual cases of diarrheal disease are attributed to unsafe water and inadequate sanitation and hygiene;
and 1.8 million people die from diarrheal diseases each year. The WHO estimates that 94% of these diarrheal cases are
preventable through modifications to the environment, including access to safe water.

Bay City Techno Co. Ltd company has found the solution

WATER PURIFICATION UNITS

Development of a Compact and Easily Transported And Installed Water Purification Unit

A breakthrough water purification process and unit has been developed to bring good news to people
living in areas with a problematic water supply not only in Japan but also throughout the world. This
mobile water purification unit named the “ Drinking Water Supply System – DWSS can produce clean,
safe water from seawater, river water or lake water in areas, which lack water supply infrastructure,
areas, which suffer from a chronic water shortage due to drought or other reasons and disaster hit, and
other areas where a water shortage is being experienced. Japanese company has developed the DWSS.
There are two types, One is the truck loading type which can be easily transported anywhere on a truck
while the other is the container type which can be installed in a single day without foundation work. Both
types have been developed based on the concept that "the unit must be compact and readily transported
and installed”. In fact, the container type has two versions, I.e. 20 feet long and 40 feet long offering
different storage capacities. The 40 feet version can produce 40 tons of drinking water (1 ton is, 1000
liters) from seawater. Assuming that one person requires five liters of water per day the version can meet
the daily water requirement of 8,000 people. If the original water does not contain salt, the output of this
version is doubled to 80 tons a day, serving 16,000 people.

The DWSS uses a rotary piston pump, which produces high pressure with little
electricity. Power is independently generated using such eco-friendly
power- generating source like sunlight (PV power generation) or wind. CO2 or
other unwanted gases are not produced. Bacillus Natto is used in pre-treatment
process prior to the filtration of the water by RO (reverse osmosis) membrane.
The wastewater from the desalination process of seawater can be recycled.
To obtain fresh water from seawater by means of RO membrane filtration, very high pressure is required
to push the seawater through the membrane. Conventionally, the pump generate such high pressure
consumes a lot of electricity. The rotary piston pump used for the DWSS is a type of small light weight
pump and can efficiently generate high pressure with much less electricity. It is not easy to obtain the
high pressure required for the desalination using ordinary pumps and the amount of power consumption
is huge. Because the rotary piston pump has a smaller area to push, it can generate high pressure with
less energy. The lower power consumption allows the use of an eco-friendly power generation system
consisting of solar panels on the roof of the container or two small wind power turbines. The system can
generate electricity 24 hours a day with the right conditions and can store the surplus electric energy.
Because of this independent power generating system, the DWSS can be used anywhere in the world.

Another characteristics of the DWSS is the use of bacillus natto as the coagulant at the initial stage of
water treatment. Prior to the filtration using a RO membrane there is a pre-treatment process of two-step
filtration. The first step aims at separating the sludge components from the water and facilitating the
sedimentation. Bacillus natto is used as the coagulant at this step. In the past ozone was used in the pre-
treatment process but it was discovered that the use of Bacillus natto would greatly improve the
efficiency of the sludge component removal at the first step.
With ozone the process takes half a day, but with Bacillus natto it takes only one minute. The
use of Bacillus natto at the first step also reduces BOD in addition to the sedimentation of the
sludge components. The use of ozone at the second step further reduces the COD and TOC,
which are not fully dealt with at the first step. The hydroxyl radicals generated from the ozone
in particular reduce the TOC. The raw water prior to filtration can contain various bacteries etc.,
including Legonella which propagates in the cooling water for air-conditioning systems and
Cryptosporidium recently found in the water of Ara river in Japan. These miscellaneous
bacteria cannot be eradicated by the conventional chlorine sterilization method. In other words,
perfect water treatment can only be achieved by a filtration system which combines a chemical
treatment process and a physical treatment process using Bacillus natto, ozone and RO
membrane of the DWSS, for example … this complex filtration configuration in a major
advantage of DWSS.
The production of clean water through the complex filtration system and process leaves wastewater
behind For example; the quantity of fresh water produced from seawater is equivalent to some 30 - 35%
of the quantity of the original seawater. 300 liters of seawater are required to produce 100 liters of fresh
water, the remaining 200 liters of wastewater are, in fact condensed seawater. Because the desalination
process does not use chemicals, this highly dense salt water is safe.

This salt water has a very high recycling value. It can produce salt used as an additive for ham, soy
sauce and many others uses. It can also be used for thalasssotherapy. As there are many other possible
applications, this dense salt water can be described as a gold mine.

Many conventional desalination systems involve chemical treatment using hypochlorninous acid in the
pre-treatment process. As the DWSS can discharge wastewater devoid of any chemicals it does not
pollute the sea environment and brings a great contribution in the protection of the sea. The DWSS is an
advanced water purification system and the running cost is always a concern but the mobility and use of
solar panels and wind for generation energy is a great asset especially in remote areas and emergency
situations.
