Applying coconut milk to the scalp is a popular folk remedy for hair growth, particularly in countries
where people consume and use a large amount of coconut milk in cooking, such as Thailand and the
Philippines. To use coconut milk on the scalp, apply approximately one-half cup to the scalp and wrap

4. Honey
- Make a paste by mixing olive oil, 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
Apply and massage on the scalp and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash off and repeat it for 3-4 times a

- Mix one tablespoon honey with one small glass of brandy or vodka and onion juice; rub mixture into
the scalp every night, cover with a cap and shampoo in the morning.
- Combine 1/4 cup of onion juice with one tablespoon of raw honey, and then massage the scalp with
the mixture every night.
- Massage into the scalp and hair honey with egg yolk. Leave for a 1/2 hour, then wash. This is a
common natural cure for dull and dry hair.
5. Wheatgrass juice is one of the most effective remedies against hair fall. It is known to decrease the
shedding tendency of hair within a few weeks of regular intake. Aloe vera juice has a similar effect.
However, aloe gel can be applied to the scalp too. This is helpful for preventing hair loss due to irritated,
dry or infected scalp. After massaging the head with aloe gel, wash the hair with lukewarm water. This
can be done twice, every week.

Coconut oil with lemon A traditional method of preventing white hair formation is
mixing coconut with lemon or almond oil and massaging of scalp.
The first thing you must do is to start applying onion juice to the area on and around your white hair. This
will prevent further white hairs from sprouting in the same place. Do keep in mind that the change will
take plenty of time to manifest. You must not lose patience in the mean time. The other thing you can do
is apply temporary color to your hair. This will cover up the white hairs that have grown and will also
condition your hair. But this is only providing you use natural hair color. This would be henna powder. You
can buy henna powder at any store that sells organic or natural products. What color henna you buy
would totally depend upon what color you want to apply. Henna is available in black, brown and red

The juice of alfalfa in combination with carrot and lettuce juice, taken daily
also helps the growth of hair to a remarkable extent. The combination of
these juices is rich in elements which are particularly useful for the growth of
hair. While preparing alfalfa juice, the leaves of the plant only may be used
when it can be obtained fresh.
Daily application of refined coconut oil mixed with limewater and lime juice
on the hair, prevents loss of hair and lengthens them.
Application of the juice of green coriander leaves on the head is also
considered beneficial.
Amaranth, known as chaulai-ka-saag in the vernacular, is another valuable
remedy. Application of its fresh leaf-juice helps the growth of the hair and
keeps them soft.
Mustard oil, boiled with henna leaves, is useful in healthy growth of hair.
About 250 grams of mustard oil should be boiled in tinned basin. A little
quantity of henna leaves should be gradually put in this oil till about 60
grams of these leaves are thus burnt in the oil. The oil should then be
filtered through a cloth and stored well in a bottle. A regular massage of the
head with this oil will produce abundant hair.
Another effective home remedy for loss of hair is the application of coconut
milk all over the scalp and massaging it into the hair loss. It will nourish the
hair and promote hair growth. The coconut milk is prepared by grinding the
coconut shavings and squeezing it well.
Washing the hair with a paste of cooked black gram dal, (urad dal) and
fenugreek (methi) lengthens the hair. A fine paste made from pigeon pea or

of hair. You can use red onions or shallots by chopping it into small pieces and then
squeezing out its juice. Then apply it on your scalp and keep for 15 minutes. Finally rinse off
with a mild shampoo.

This vinegar gently cleanses the scalp and maintains the PH balance of the hair, thus
accelerating hair growth. Use the apple cider vinegar as a final rinse after shampoo to get
healthy and shiny hair.

Egg has been used since the ancient times for combating hair loss. It contains high levels of
proteins which help in the formation of new hair. It is also rich in sulphur, zinc, iron,
selenium, phosphorous and iodine. In white of an egg, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and honey
and mix it well to form a smooth paste. Apply all over the hair and leave it for 20 minutes.
Rinse with cool water and shampoo it off. Not just for hair, you can use egg masks to get
glowing skin too.

This is another widely used hair fall treatment as fenugreek accelerates hair growth and
protects the natural colour of your hair. Take 1 teaspoon of the fenugreek paste and add 2
teaspoons of coconut milk. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash off with a mild shampoo.
Potato juice:
This is a secret remedy as most of the people are not familiar with the hair growth
properties of potato juice. Simply apply the potato juice on the scalp and leave it for 15
minutes. This can also be used if youre suffering from alopecia- thinning of hair. Potato is
also good for using as face packs too.
Henna pack:
Henna is the best natural conditioner which transforms dull and dry hair into smooth and
shiny hair and also adds a colour to them. It also promotes hair growth by strengthening
the roots of the existing hair. Make this pack by mixing 1 cup of dry henna powder with
cup of yoghurt and apply all over the hair. Leave the pack until it dries off completely and
wash off with a mild shampoo.

hair growth. Apply warm green tea all over your scalp and leave it for an hour. Rinse off
with cool water.

antioxidants and vitamin C. Amla promotes healthy hair growth and also improves the
pigmentation of the hair. Mix 2 teaspoons of amla powder or juice with 2 teaspoons of lime
juice. Apply this on the scalp and let it dry. Rinse with warm water.
4. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a great source of the antioxidant beta carotene, which your body turns into vitamin
A. "Basically, every cell of the body cannot function without enough A," Fishman says. It also helps
protect and produce the oils that sustain your scalp, and being low on vitamin A can even leave you with
itchy, irksome dandruff.
Other options: Carrots, cantaloupe, mangoes, pumpkin, and apricots are all good sources of beta
carotene.
5. Eggs
A great source of protein, eggs are loaded with four key minerals: zinc, selenium, sulfur, and iron. Iron is
especially important, because it helps cells carry oxygen to the hair follicles, and too little iron (anemia) is
a major cause of hair loss, particularly in women, Drayer says.
Other options: You can also boost your iron stores with animal sources, including chicken, fish, pork, and
beef.
6. Spinach
The iron, beta carotene, folate, and vitamin C in spinach help keep hair follicles healthy and scalp oils
circulating.
Other options: Try similarly nutrient-rich dark, leafy vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and Swiss chard.
7. Lentils
Tiny but mighty, these legumes are teeming with protein, iron, zinc, and biotin, says Fishman, making it
a great staple for vegetarian, vegans, and meat eaters.
Other options: Toss other beans such as soybeans (the young ones are called edamame) and kidney
beans into your soup or salad.
8. Greek yogurt
Cruise the dairy aisle for low-fat options such as Greek yogurt, which is high in hair-friendly protein,
vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid -- an ingredient you'll often see on hair care product labels), and vitamin D.
Emerging research links vitamin D and hair follicle health, but exactly how that works isn't clear, Fishman
says.
Other options: Cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, and skim milk also fit the bill.
9. Blueberries
Exotic super fruits may come and go but when it comes to vitamin C, "It's hard to top this nutrient
superhero," Drayer says. C is critical for circulation to the scalp and supports the tiny blood vessels that
feed the follicles. Too little C in your diet can lead to hair breakage.
Other options: Kiwis, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and strawberries.
10. Poultry
This everyday entree is extraordinary when it comes to protein, as well as hair-healthy zinc, iron, and B
vitamins to keep strands strong and plentiful. Because hair is nearly all protein, "foods rich in protein are
literally giving you the building blocks for hair," Drayer says.
Other options: Lean cuts of beef are another good source of lean protein.
1. Bitter yellow brown seeds with bitter taste, Fenugreek help to lower LDL
cholesterol levels.
2. They help to prevent colon cancer by binding themselves to toxins.
3. With fibre and enriched amino acids, they can regulate your Blood Sugar
Levels, especially in Type II diabetes.
4. A source of potassium, calcium, iron, selenium, zinc and copper, and some
essential vitamins too.

lactation in nursing mothers!
