Analogical Types

Strictly speaking, there are only two Analogical Types, rational analogy, and

arational analogy. The third type, irrational “analogy” is not really an analogy at all, and

in fact is nonsensical. A rational analogy involves math, that is, the use of fractions

which are analogous, Thus, we can see the following rational, analogical, fractions:

1 is to 2

as

2 is to 4

3/4 : 6/8 (3/4 = 3 is to 4 and : = as and 6/8 = 6 is to 8)

7/8 : 14/16

5/10 : 10/20

6/8 : 14/16

In addition to rational analogies, there are also arational analogies. For example:

Banana is to orange
as

Apple is to grapefruit
