Dear Parents,

Summer Holiday Homework is an initiative on our part, to inculcate


innovativeness, creativity and interest in the tasks assigned to our students. It will
not only enable them to recapitulate what was taught but will also help them to
connect themselves to the various learning processes. Please ensure that your child
completes the assignments neatly. It will be graded further.
Apart from the above kindly encourage your children to wake up early in the
morning, doing exercises, reading newspapers, cleaning their own stuffs, helping
you in petty things like table manners, making sandwiches, lemonades and other
homely activities which include moral values too. We wish all the parents and
students a very happy and creative summer holidays.
English: -
1) Write a beautiful poem on a chart paper on What you want to be when you
grow up' or ' My favourite Hobby '. Make a colourful drawing also.

2) Project Work To be done Roll No. wise


Roll No. 1-17: Make a colourful Picture Dictionary using 7-8 pastel sheets on
any one of the following topics: - Inventions, games, food, dances, places of
tourist interest in Delhi etc.
Roll No.17 onwards: - Take 1/4th of pastel sheet of any bright colour. Make a
table-mat and write different types of nouns with examples. Decorate it
creatively and laminate the mat. Write your name on the right hand corner.

3) Reading enhances a persons ability to think in a broader way. Following are


the books suggested for the children. They have to read any one of them and
suitable questions related to the same will be asked after vacations. The
children should be thorough with the characters along with the moral of the
story

4) Revision of all the lessons done in the class.

1) Make a mini mathematics dictionary using A-4 sheets.
2) Pick out 10-20 words used in mathematics and write along with them their
meanings and definition.
Science
1) Do the following according to your roll numbers: -
Roll No. 1 to 10 - Collect various materials such as wool, coloured thread,
different coloured pulses and clay. Using these materials, create a display
of the human digestive system.
Roll No. 11 to 20 - Make a poster on an A-3 size sheet and write slogans
on the topic Save environment.
Roll No. 21 to 30 - Create a new healthy cold drink that is suitable for
children of your age. It should have all the nutrients that growing children
need. It should have higher quantity of those nutrients that are important
for growth. It must not contain unhealthy substances such as chemical
preservatives. Give your drink a nice name. Design a bottle to fill it in.
Design an advertisement for your drink. Draw it on an A-3 sized sheet.
Use pictures and colour it. List the ingredients on the side.
Roll No. 31 to 40 - There are many botanical gardens in India. Collect
information from the internet on any one botanical garden. Show the
presentation in the scrap book. Include in your presentation where the
botanical garden is situated, when was it formed, the plants/ trees that it is
famous for and the steps taken by the local people to protect it.

Roll No 1 to 10: -Use your imagination and creativity to prepare a
presentation on any one state of Northern Plains on an A-3 sized sheet.

wildlife sanctuaries in which they are found. Write about their habitats,
food habits and explain why they have become endangered. Paste
pictures/Draw pictures of these endangered animals.
Roll No 21 to 30: -Find out the names of any three ingredients of a
chocolate bar. On a political map of India, mark the Indian states that are
the largest producer of these ingredients.

Roll No 31 onwards: -Compare family traditions and life style. Look at


your family album or talk to your parents and find out the similarities and
dissimilarities among the three generations of your family. Based on your
observations complete the following table:

The whole of a certain valley belonged to three brothers called Schwartz, Hans and Gluck. The
two elder brothers were ugly men. They lived by farming the Treasured Valley. They killed
everything that did not pay for what it ate. They shot the blackbirds because they pecked the fruit.
They killed the hedgehogs in case they worried the cows in the fields. They poisoned the crickets
for eating the crumbs in the kitchen. They made the servants work for no wages until they would
not work any more, and then they turned them out of doors without paying them. They were so
mean and cruel that all who knew them gave them the nickname of the Black Brother.

THE WOLF.
A boy named John was once taking care of some sheep not far from a forest. Nearby was a
village, and he was told to call for help if there was any danger. One day, in order to have some
fun, he cried out with all his might, "The wolf is coming! The wolf is coming!" The men came
running with clubs and axes to save the boy from the wolf. As they saw nothing, they went home
again and left John laughing in his sleeve. Because he had had so much fun, John cried out again
the next day, "The wolf! The wolf!" The men came again, but not as many as the first time. Again
they saw no trace of the wolf, so they shook their heads and went back. On the third day, the wolf
came in earnest. John cried in dismay, "Help! Help! The wolf! The wolf!" But not a single man
came to help him. The wolf broke into the flock and killed a great many sheep. Among them was
a beautiful lamb that belonged to John. Then he felt very sorry that he had deceived his friends
and neighbours, and he grieved over the loss of his pet lamb. The truth itself is not believed, from
one who often has deceived.
