1. SCOPE OF THIS CALCULATION SHEET

The scope of this report is to present the structural design of the Base plate for the platform columns
and Staircase stinger beams.

1.1 APPLICABLE STANDARDS

The design of the civil/structural works will be in accordance with the following laws, rules and
applicable standards:

- American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)

o AISC Steel Construction Manual Fourteenth Edition

1.2 DESIGN REFERENCES & DRAWINGS

Platform 3D model

1.3 SYSTEM OF UNITS

The Adopted System of units are English units

1.4 MATERIALS

Description Structural steel material

Base plate ASTM A36

Steel members ASTM A992

Bolts ASTM F436

1.5 METHODOLOGY OF ANALYSIS

The load is considered as per the below snap.

The base plate is designed as per AISC-ASD

Base plate thickness tmin = 0.368 in
Provided base plate thickness tpro = 0.5 in
SAFE
Fastener Design

Tensile force = 0 kN

The tensile force is zero & the shear forces values are very small
Hence the fasteners are required only for the fixing purpose of the column.

3. CONCLUSION

Concluding the analysis and design of the Base plate

Section profiles provided for the Base plate satisfies the stress ratio limits.
Fastener sizes are decided by the material availability. But less than 10mm dia. Bolts are not
advisable.
