Portside Worship Team Covenant:

The purpose of our Worship & Music Ministry is to use music and the arts in a way that
glorifies God and brings people into relationship with Jesus. The most visible function of
this ministry is to provide music for, and lead in, worship during our Saturday night
service as well as other celebrations of the church. We include music in our repertoire
that represents various styles and streams of influence.

A covenant is an agreement between people and/or people and God. When God
covenanted with people he reminded them that keeping the covenant would bring
blessing to the people with whom He had covenanted. The same is true with our worship
team covenant. If each party agrees to and carries out the covenant the group will
experience life like they never have before. The following commitments (covenant) are
required to be a part of the worship team of Portside Student Ministries, Crosswind
Church.

In addition to the covenant on the following page, there are a few other things I want
to make you aware of...

A Word about Attitudes / Drama

As teenagers we are keenly aware that you will struggle with inter-personal relationships.
We understand that you are "finding" yourselves, and going through extremely difficult
changes in regards to you life, responsibilities and relationships.

Having said this, we also expect that you will conduct yourselves in a manner that is
Christ like. As members of the youth worship team, we expect that you keep your
attitudes in check. That means courtesy will be extended to every member of the team,
and larger group. We expect you will not stir up drama, and that you will do all that you
can to put it to rest, should you be surrounded by it!

You will forfeit your opportunity to serve on this team should it become apparent that
you are unwilling to live in harmony with these expectations.

Rehearsals are to be:

Positive and lighthearted - Check egos, attitudes and stressful situations at the door so
that team members can enjoy being together and making music to the glory of God.

Productive - Team members should go away from the rehearsal feeling that new things
were learned, their musical skills were nurtured, and that their souls were nourished.

Purposeful - This team is a vital part of the ministry of Portside Student Ministry and of
God's kingdom. We are not just learning words and practicing chord changes. Rather, we
are preparing to lead a portion of the body of Christ in worship.

My Commitment To God:
• To pursue a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ through
worship, prayer, and study of His word.
• To live a lifestyle that reflects the highest Biblical standards of
holiness and integrity.
• To have personal accountability with other believers who love me
and are
committed to my spiritual growth and development.
• To submit to the leadership and authority under which God has
placed me.
• To serve my God and King with a positive and joyful attitude.

Our Commitment To One Another (Everyone On The Worship

Team)
• To attend faithfully and be on time to practices and worship services.
• To encourage my fellow team members in their areas of service.
(NEGATIVE Comments will not be tolerated)
• To support my fellow team members in prayer.
• To offer my creative input with humility and grace.
• To guard the unity of the church and worship team by refraining from
gossip. I will
neither speak nor listen to a negative word or gossip about my
fellow team
members or the worship ministry.
• To communicate all worship team concerns in a godly and prayerful
manner to the
worship team leader.

I Understand That:
• I must be at practices in order to be on the worship team on Saturday
nights. If I
have missed a practice I will worship with the congregation on
Saturday night that
week.
• As a part of the Portside worship team I am a role model in the group
and realize
that others will be looking up to me so I will act, speak, and dress in
a Christian
manner as a representative of the church and of Jesus Christ.
• As I begin serving with the worship team I will be under a
commitment period of 6
months at the end of which I will meet with the youth pastor and we
will discuss
any potential issues we may see and also whether worship ministry
is right for
me. At the end of my commitment period, if either the youth pastor
or I determine
that service on the Portside worship team is not a good fit for me at
that time, I will
continue to strive to find my area of ministry.

I have read this covenant and agree to adhere to the requirements and
guidelines:
