Seamless Upgrade
There is no repository change between PowerCenter 8.5 and 8.6, and
objects built with PowerCenter 8.5 or 8.5.1 will work seamlessly in
PowerCenter 8.6. This means that customers will be able to upgrade
painlessly to take advantage of new platform capabilities. .
Similarly, there are no significant repository changes between
Informatica Data Quality 8.5.1 and 8.6. Objects built with Informatica
Data Quality 8.5.1 will work seamlessly in Informatica Data Quality
8.6. PowerCenter mappings with Informatica Data Quality 8.5.1
integration will continue to run in PowerCenter 8.6.
Informatica PowerExchange 8.6
Maximize Data Value
• CDC functionality now supports CPU offload and multithreaded
processing, which pushes more of the capture processing to
the PowerCenter integration service in a multithreaded mode,
increasing change capture performance for real-time access to an
organization’s most critical data assets.
• Support for HP Neoview through the HP Transporter Java interface
and through ODBC means that customers can now use PowerCenter
and PowerExchange for all of the three leading data warehousing
environments.
• SSL support in LDAP allows for secure access to user data in
corporate LDAP sources.
• Support for Oracle 11g enables customers to upgrade to the
latest database platforms and take advantage of their enhanced
functionality.
Optimize IT Efficiency
• Support for Teradata v12 with restart and recovery capabilities for
the Teradata Parallel Transporter means that data can be streamed
into Teradata with complete transactional integrity enabling the
warehouse to be used for both analytical and operational purposes.
• Certification of Netezza Performance Server 4.0 with support for
update as insert ensures more efficient loading into Netezza.
Informatica PowerCenter 8.6
Maximize Data Value
• Guaranteed real-time message delivery ensures that messages are
read, processed and delivered once and only once and in order
with complete transactional integrity irrespective of whether the
target is a relational database or a message queue.
• The new PowerCenter Data Masking Option ensures privacy of
sensitive data and improves compliance with data privacy laws
through multiple data masking techniques and algorithms to ensure
randomization while maintaining the original nature of the data and
preserving referential integrity.

Optimize IT Efficiency
• Integrating unstructured data and industry standards with the
PowerCenter relational model can now be achieved in one step
using the PowerCenter Unstructured Data Option™. Users can now
configure the required relational model in the PC interface, and then
map the data in one step to that relational model.
Expedite Time To Value
• A new feature of PowerCenter, Mapping Analyst for Excel, enables
analysts to jumpstart data integration projects by using an Excel-
based tool to directly specify business terms and transformation
rules and then use these rules to automatically generate
PowerCenter mappings.
• A new feature of PowerCenter, Reference Table Manager, facilitates
collaboration with business analysts or subject matter experts by
streamlining the task of defining valid values and other reference
data in data warehousing and data migration projects.
• A key feature of PowerCenter Advanced Edition, Metadata Manager,
can be used as a business glossary thanks to Metadata Manager’s
sample business glossary model, along with simpler wizard-based
object relationships definition and enhanced lineage display that
includes business names.
Informatica PowerCenter Real Time Edition

• This new edition of PowerCenter enables organizations to access,
process, and deliver their critical data in a timely manner, across
the entire spectrum of latencies from batch to near real-time, to
real-time.
• The new edition includes functionality from the PowerCenter Real
Time Option, PowerCenter Partitioning Option, PowerExchange for
EAI (any one), PowerExchange for Web Services, PowerExchange
CDC for Relational Systems (any one from Oracle, DB2 and SQL
Server), and orchestration and human workflow capabilities.

• PowerCenter Real Time Edition provides a single optimized platform
for all operational data integration in an attractively priced premium
edition.
• This edition is suitable for a wide variety of operational and
analytical data integration projects including data synchronization
and replication, operational data hubs, master data management,
real-time data warehousing, and data services.

Expedite Time To Value
• The new orchestration and human workflow capability allows
analysts to collaborate by defining the data integration processes
using a Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN)-based
graphical tool with support for auto-generating the executable
Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) processes.
• Orchestration enables the definition of more sophisticated data
integration logic with better support for looping, conditional logic,
error handling, and compensation.
• The new human workflow capability enables the definition of
approval chains, long-running, stateful processes, and human
activity tasks through which data stewards and analysts can more
fully participate in the overall data integration project.

Maximize Data Value
• Informatica Identity Resolution™, the new product from newly
acquired Identity Systems, provides high performance real time
search and match solutions, solving the unavoidable variations in
identity data – regardless of country, language, or character set.
• The new Informatica Data Quality Identity Match Option integrates
identity matching technology from the newly acquired Identity
Systems into an Informatica Data Quality matching process for
highly accurate and faster matching processes for identity data.
• Informatica Data Quality for Oracle UCM provides a data quality
solution for Oracle UCM users entering name and address data. This
new application is certified by Oracle for Oracle UCM V8. Providing
real-time and batch cleansing and matching for account, contact,
prospect, and business address information, this application is
extensible for all data domains in the Oracle UCM environment.
• Informatica Data Quality for SAP Point of Entry provides a data
quality solution for SAP ERP users entering customer name and
address data. This new application’s functionality includes matching
and address validation. This new application provides extended
platform support on AIX 5.3 64 bit for SAP 4.7 and ECC 6.0, with
Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2 databases.
• The new Informatica Data Quality Content Options provide standard
company data to cleanse, match, and append data fields including
the DUNS number, company name, address, and industry.
• The new release of Informatica Data Explorer 8.6 includes
additional ease of use features for data analysts including improved
tagging manager, dockable windows, and enhanced flat file
importer.

• Informatica Data Quality is now more tightly integrated with
PowerCenter. Advanced platform integration delivers a standardized
UI look and feel similar to Powercenter. There is a common runtime
repository for data quality mapplets and native execution of data
quality mapplets on a single runtime engine. Full transparency
of data quality processes within PowerCenter is now available via
Metadata Manager.
• Informatica Data Quality now offers expanded choice of data quality
repository databases includes Oracle, SQL server, or MYSQL for the
client and server environment.
• A new international component SDK enables third parties to deliver
local script components within Informatica Data Quality to provide
country-specific data processing for parsing, standardization, and
matching. There is a certification program to support and validate
third-party partner implementations.
Expedite Time To Value
• Informatica Data Quality features an expanded Data Quality
Assistant which enables data stewards to review, edit, and update
low-quality records identified during a data quality process. The
browser-based UI accesses such new features as automatic
highlighting of all low-quality data attributes within a record, new
wild card searches, and administration support for user logins and
permissions using the Informatica administration client.
• The Informatica Data Quality Dashboard and Reports Option is
extended to include Informatica Data Explorer prebuilt reports to
distribute and display the results of column, table, and cross-table
profiling. Full configuration and customization of reports supported
for enterprise deployment across multiple projects.
Informatica B2B Data Transformation 8.6
Maximize Data Value
• Providing enhanced support for PDF documents, Informatica B2B
Data Transformation 8.6 enables access to data in PDF structures,
such as complex PDF tables and PDF forms, that was not possible
before.
• The release supports Excel 2007, enabling businesses to extend
their reach to data stored in the latest version of this popular
spreadsheet tool.
• Streaming support for webMethods and Biztalk 2004 enables better
handling of large files as input into those third-party environments.

• Informatica B2B Data Transformation 8.6 enables data-driven
transformation. The data transformation to be performed can be
selected dynamically at runtime, allowing a single mapping to
handle more complex use cases.
• This new release supports more flexible data transformation with
such capabilities as input parameters and multiple inputs/outputs,
which increases its ability to handle more use cases.
• The release improves exception handling and transformation error
propagation, which enables developers to specify a custom action
upon the failure of a transformation.
Expedite Time To Value
• Informatica B2B Data Transformation 8.6 is now more tightly
integrated with PowerCenter. Including unstructured data and
industry-standard data (e.g., SWIFT, NACHA, ACORD, EDI, etc.) in a
mapping is a one-step process. This new integration also improves
throughput and memory consumption.
