OVERVIEW

Indian telecommunication is a highly dynamic sector which is fast growing. The

wireless segment comprises 95% of the telecom subscribers. The wireless infrastructure
grew in an exponential manner in the last decade. It is expecting to grow at a faster
rate in the coming years with advent of 3G, LTE and WiMAX. The Indian telecom sector
is experiencing revolutionary growth and a crucial turning point with the 4G wave. The
telecom sector now, witnessing a huge demand for the trained and qualified engineers
specialized in mobile communication.

To fill up this growing demand for qualified professionals in mobile communication,

BSNL, the pioneer telecommunication provider in India, is launching a certification
program in GSM RF Engineering.

This course focuses on building a strong foundation in GSM technology. It describes in

great detail about the theoretical and implementation aspects of Mobile
Communication Engineering.

Field Training

The trainees are exposed to the real world of GSM Network deployed by BSNL in
Kerala.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Through this uniquely designed industry oriented academic initiative, the trainee shall

gain a deeper understanding of mobile communication technology

be able to design, implement and maintain a GSM network
be recognized as a GSM technology specialist

TRAINING METHOD

The training programme is supported with Audio-Video aided Classroom lectures and
interactions. The instructor will lead you to focus on the key knowledge and skills to
understand the mobile communication technology in an overall perspective.
Discussions and hands on practice sessions in high technology GSM-3G laboratories will
provide confidence to the participants to apply the learned knowledge and techniques
in the actual industry environment. In addition, the trainees are exposed to the
implementation and maintenance aspects of mobile networks deployed by BSNL in
Kerala.

WHO CAN APPLY

1. Candidates who have passed Graduation in engineering in the disciplines of

ECE/EEE/EIE/CSE/IT or MSc. (Physics/Electronics/Photonics/Computer Science) or MCA
or Equivalent.
2. Candidates awaiting the results of their final examinations are also eligible to apply.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Course Duration : Five Weeks Full time (Including one week Field training).
Timing : 9.30 AM to 5 PM (Monday to Friday)
Course Fee : Rs. 18000/ + Service Tax @15%
Number of seats : 25 per Batch

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

1. The candidates while undergoing this course should appear for examinations /
assessment tests conducted during the course to secure the certification from BSNL
RTTC.

2. The candidates will be awarded following grades based on their performance in the
examinations /assessments conducted by BSNL RTTC

a. Grade A+ 90% & above marks

b. Grade A 80% - 90%
c. Grade B+ 70% - 80%
d. Grade B 60% - 70%
e. Grade C 50% - 60%
f. Failed Below 50%

CERTIFICATE

BSNL will award certificates to trainees on successful completion of the course.

PLACEMENT

No placement or Placement assistance will be provided by BSNL.

THE INSTITUTE

BSNL - Regional Telecom Training Centre Thiruvananthapuram is one of the premier

training institutes of BSNL. It imparts training in modern Telecommunication
Engineering, Information Technology, and Management to BSNL executives. This ISO
9001:2008 certified centre of excellence is equipped with state-of-the-art telecom
technology laboratories, which include mobile communication systems of GSM 3G &
CDMA, switching systems of OCB-Alcatel France & CDOT make, transmission systems in
digital microwave, fiber optics, SDH, STM rings and data communication systems with
Internet nodes, Wi-Fi equipments, IP MPLS VPN and Cisco routers. The faculty members
are well-qualified technocrats and experienced professionals from among various
telecom specialties. The 30 acres of lush green campus houses Library, Hostels and
Recreational amenities.

HOSTEL FACILITY

Separate Hostel facility available for Ladies and Gents if required. A boarding charge
of Rs. 130 and lodging charge of Rs. 80 per day per student will be collected for
availing hostel facility. Library and recreational amenities are also available in the
campus.
