Nascetur pro te, Israel! Emmanuel nascer per te, o Israele.

Un bellissimo inno d'Avvento, utilizzato durante i vespri della quarta settimana, il popolare
Veni Veni Emmanuel. Non molto conosciuto in Italia, invece famoso e richiestissimo nei paesi anglosassoni,
dove si canta O Come o come Emmanuel. Ha la particolarit di essere costruito sul contenuto delle antifone "O".
Le antifone sono di origine antica, risalente almeno al IX secolo. L'inno molto pi recente e appare
per la prima volta nel XVIII secolo nel Cantionum Psalteriolum Catholicarum (Colonia 1710).
E' interessante notare che le parole iniziali delle sette antifone lette in ordine inverso formano un acrostico:
O Emmanuel, O Rex, O Oriens, O Clavis, O Radix ("virgula" nell'inno), O Adonai, O Sapientia diventano
ERO CRAS, che pu essere liberamente tradotto come "Ci sar domani".
Questo visto come un messaggio di raccordo dal momento che la nascita di Cristo cade il giorno seguente.
