Cool Cities Delaware is a state-wide volunteer effort that encourages local governments adopt energy sustainability, environmental stewardship and climate protection policies and programs. Several local governments were official participators in Earth Hour on march 27, 2010, turning out nonessential lighting to raise awareness of the need for action on climate change. Since 1992, more than 330 tons of tires, appliances, household items, plastic scraps and styrofoam debris have been removed from the Christina River and its tributaries.

Green Jobs Event for Delaware’s Youth, April 22
Cool Cities Delaware is proud to support Jobs for Delaware Graduates. This non- profit organization has been exposing Delaware’s youth in public high schools to green jobs, energy sustainability, and environmental stewardship throughout this school year. Their annual competition, located at the Dover Sheraton, coincides with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22.
