I. HISTORY OF THE BUSINESS

Bunjo, an eat-all-you-can buffet is one of the most famous restaurants in Plaridel.

It is located in barangay Parulan, Plaridel, Bulacan. The budget friendly and garage-

turned-restaurant captured the attention of the public because of the appetizing and

savory home cooked specials. Despite the presence of other eat-all-you-can buffets in

Plaridel, Bunjo has its parking space always packed with vehicles. And in every ten

minutes, more costumers will arrive to dine and taste those varieties of foods.

Having an interview with the father of the business owner, we asked few

questions about the restaurant and its history. The owner of the buffet restaurant is Mr.

Frederick Paul Rueda, who is a Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate. Hes the one

in charge in the kitchen, while his father is the one making rounds and meeting the

costumers. According to the interviewee, the buffet restaurant was established July 5,

2016. Since Mr. Frederick finished Hotel and Restaurant Management, he thought of

putting up a buffet restaurant. It was his idea to run and manage a restaurant. His father

also said that they only have Php 200,000 as their capital when they first started their

buffet restaurant. They even borrowed money just to establish the business successfully.

But now, their buffet restaurant is being visited by customers despite having debts and

being short of capital when they first started the business.

II. PROFILE OF THE ENTREPRENEUR/BUSINESSMAN

In terms of managing a restaurant, the entrepreneur should have the 12 Rs and should

take risks if they would like to succeed. They should be approachable and be responsive to

the costumers to make sure that they meet the customers wants. Entrepreneurs should be

optimist, and at the same time look at their flaws and their business so they would know how

to improve their services. The owner of Bunjo is a risk taker when he first started the

business because he still chose to open a buffet restaurant in a place away from populous

areas. He also has his mind focused on their goal, which is to provide comfort and delicious

meals at the same time without being too competitive.

When the interviewee was asked about the qualities that he has, he said that it wasnt him

that makes the costumers come back; it was the food that they are serving. When also asked

about the traits he shows to the costumers, he said hes just normal around them. He

sometimes talks to them, and make rounds to see if the costumers are fine and enjoying the

food. Fortunately, he was approachable and entertained us despite the arrival of customers. It

is a quality that an entrepreneur must possess.

III. NATURE OF THE PRODUCT/SERVICE

A buffet restaurant like Bunjo should serve varieties of delicious foods in order to satisfy

the costumers. Entrepreneurs should provide quality service and should improve their

business by having their establishment renovated, adding new menus, offer promos and more

every now and then. In Bunjo, they serve different dishes, appetizers, desserts and pasta that

will surely satisfy your hungry stomach. For the rice, they serve plain rice and fried rice. As

for the dishes, they serve lechon kawali, sisig, fried chicken, pusit, and many more. For the

appetizer, they have okoy, cheesesticks, and vegetable salad. And for the dessert, they serve

salad, caramel bar, pineapple bits and more fruits.

When asked about how often they change their menu, he said that they are changing it

every now and then. They are changing the foods they serve every day. They have one set of

menu for lunch and another set of menu for dinner per day. He also said that they are always

refilling the food once they ran out of dishes so that the costumers can eat more.

According to him, they chose the eat-all-you-can type of restaurant because it is the idea

of his son who graduated as an HRM student. His son is one who takes charge of the kitchen

department of the restaurant while he, Rey Rueda, is the one who assists the customers. Their

restaurant, BUNJO, is offering services for different occasions like, Christening celebrations

and Birthday parties. He also said that they are not considering establishing more branches

around Plaridel because they are contented of their branch.

IV. COMPETITORS / UNIQUENESS

Every entrepreneur has its hardships and weaknesses. But a true entrepreneur must know

how to deal with their weaknesses and stand up when they fall. Just like the owner of Bunjo,

they have experienced many hardships before, but they didnt let those hardships drag them

down. Just like what the interviewee said, with every hardship is a relief after it. Theyre not

after the competition; they just offer quality service and provide comfort to their customers.

They put up their business to serve people. Thats all they know. As for their services, they

make sure to fill their shortcomings. They should always improve and make better services.

And lastly, according to the interviewee, what makes their business unique is that they are far

from populous areas. They run their business just in their house, but people still come by to

dine in. Customers do not come back because of him; they come back because of the service

that BUNJO provide and the foods that they serve.

V. INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE

Wag kang maging plastik. You should be genuine and show them who you really are.

Because just like us in the business industry, one must know how to communicate well and

nicely with others. And in our business, we cannot avoid unhappy customers who often

complain. Sometimes, there are costumers who complain even though there's nothing wrong

with our service. They will just complain and complain. That's why in my opinion, the saying

"costumers are always right" isn't really true at all because sometimes they tell us complains

that are far from truth. You should know your business well so you know how to defend it at

the same time. And in terms of our management, we're still lacking. We still need to improve

because we cannot perfect everything all of a sudden. But with those flaws, you shouldn't be

a negative thinker. You should always be an optimist and think that every problem has a

solution. Also, in business, it's like a continuous study wherein there's always a need for

improvement. If you make mistakes today, you will still make mistakes tomorrow. That's

because nobody is perfect. That's why there should be changes and improvement every day.

And one advice that I could tell you is that, dont let your problems in life drown you and
never give up. And the last advice I can give to you is, you should not give up in any

problems that will come in your life. Always remember that God is always by your side and

will always help and guide you in your life.

Rey Rueda

VI. CONCLUSION

After having an interview with Mr. Rey Rueda, the father of the business owner, we

learned many things not only in the field of business, but also in life. One is that, dont let

your hardships drag you down. Learn to stand when you fall. And do things you want to do,

if thats what makes you happy. Make sure to put all of your efforts into it and remember to

make improvements. We learned what are the possible happenings we might encounter if we

already have our own business. We also learned that we should always be true to ourselves

and as well as to other people. Putting up your own business is not an easy task. You have to

undergo different problems. You have to take risks. And with what Mr. Rey told us, we

should be strong enough to pass through all the problems that will come into our lives. And

we can conclude that being an entrepreneur, you should have guts to face all the problems

that might come in to your business as well in to your life.
