Please review the policies page as it contains essential information regarding guidelines relevant to all courses at FIU
and additional information on the standards for acceptable netiquette important for online courses.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

One of the greatest barriers to taking an online course is a lack of basic computer literacy. By computer literacy we
mean being able to manage and organize computer files efficiently, and learning to use your computer's operating
system and software quickly and easily. Keep in mind that this is not a computer literacy course; but students enrolled
in online courses are expected to have moderate proficiency using a computer. Please go to the "What's Required"
page to find out more information on this subject.

In this section you can address any specific technical skills that are needed in this course. (Skills, software, hardware,
etc).

Discussion forums are a communication medium among students. The professor does not regularly monitor the
discussion forum; any communication with the professor should take place via Blackboard messages.

QUIZZES

In order to mitigate any issues with your computer and online assessments, it is very important that you take the

"Practice Quiz" from each computer you will be using to take your graded quizzes and exams. It is your responsibility

to make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements.

This course will include:

5 online quizzes to be completed prior to Midnight on the date due. Exams will become active on the Thursday prior to
the due date at 6PM and remain open through midnight on the due date. Exams are timed, so you should not anticipate
having time enough to browse for answers through your book preparation is essential. These exams will reflect
information from the lectures and reading from the preceding weeks and will include a combination of multiple choice
items and short answer/essay questions. Grades will be released within 7 days of the close date.

Plagiarism and cheating will result in a grade of F in the course and will be reported as academic misconduct.

ASSIGNMENTS

Students will be required to complete 4 assignments during the course of the semester. Assignments will require you
to demonstrate practical application of course concepts and principles in organizational settings. These assignments
should be thorough and complete. Late assignments will be reduced by 5 points per day late. Assignments should be
posted in the appropriate designated topic area in the Course Assignments Section.

Article Summary on Discussion Forum

In each weekly folder, there will be one or more articles associated with the assigned chapters. You will be required to
choose ten weeks in which you will read one article and post your answers to the five questions below on the
discussion forum in the appropriate folder for the week to which the articles are aligned. If there is more than one
article available, you need only read and review one for credit.

The questions below are designed to guide your reading of each article listed below

1. What is the basic theme of the article? Try to state it in just one sentence.
2. Did the article present a good support base? Theoretical framework?
3. Do you need additional information areas to evaluate the article findings/conclusions?
4. Summarize the findings/conclusions. Were the findings substantively important?

What additional questions are suggested by the article's conclusions?
