ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
EEP 110 Electrical Engineering Fundamentals
Fall 2017

INSTRUCTOR'S NAME: .

COURSE WEBSITE: Edmodo app

CREDITS: 3

CLASS TIME: Sunday/Tuesday (3:00 - 5:00)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course starts with introduction on units of measurements, system of units, powers of
ten, prefix and abbreviation. The course also introduces the basic quantities and elements
of electric circuits such as voltage, current, resistance, power, energy and efficiency.
Methods for calculating the DC resistance of conductors are discussed. Basic laws and
theorems in electrical engineering such as finding an equivalent resistance of a network,
Ohms law, Kirchhoffs voltage and current laws (KVL and KCL) are discussed. The
principle of alternating current and methods of calculating basic quantities of alternating
waveforms, phasors and AC electric circuits are described. Finally, methods for
calculating quantities and elements of magnetic circuits are described.

COURSE GOALS:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify the basic electrical quantities and elements of DC circuits.
2. Measure electrical quantities and elements.
3. Analyze series and parallel electric circuits.
4. Use electric circuit theorems to calculate electrical quantities.
5. Identify and calculate the basic quantities of waveforms and AC circuits.
6. Identify and calculate the basic quantities and elements of magnetic circuits.
