NARRATOR Hansel and Gretel lived in the forest in a tiny cottage with their poor father, who was a
woodcutter, and their evil stepmother.
NARRADOR Hansel y Gretel vivan en el bosque en una pequea cabaa con su padre, un pobre
leador, y su perversa madrastra.
IN THE COTTAGE / EN LA CABAA
FATHER What is wrong with you?
PADRE Qu te ocurre?
STEPMOTHER Now that the children are sleeping, I have to talk to you.
MADRASTRA Ahora que los nios estn durmiendo, tengo que hablar contigo.
FATHER About what?
PADRE Sobre qu?
STEPMOTHER We don't have enough food to feed the children. Tomorrow morning we will take them
into the deep woods and will leave them there.
MADRASTRA No tenemos suficiente comida para alimentar a los nios. Maana por la maana los
llevaremos al interior del bosque y all los dejaremos.
FATHER I will not do that to my own children! Do you think that I will leave them there where they
can be in danger?
PADRE No voy a hacer eso con mis propios hijos!.Crees acaso que los voy a dejar all donde
puedan encontrarse en peligro?
STEPMOTHER Then the four of us will die ... anyway.
MADRASTRA Entonces moriremos los cuatro... de todas formas.
NARRATOR She insisted so much in that idea that the woodcutter finally agreed. But Hansel and
Gretel were not sleeping; they were listening to the whole conversation.
NARRADOR Ella insisti tanto con esa idea que finalmente el leador termin aceptndola. Pero
Hansel y Gretel no dorman; estaban escuchando toda la conversacin.
HANSEL Don't cry, little sister. I have an idea to find our way back home.
HANSEL No llores, hermanita. Tengo una idea para encontrar el camino de regreso.
NARRATOR Next morning, when they went into the forest, their stepmother gave each one of them a
piece of bread.
NARRADOR A la maana siguiente, cuando ingresaron en el bosque, su madrastra le dio a cada uno un
trozo de pan.
IN THE DEEP FOREST / EN LA ESPESURA DEL BOSQUE
STEPMOTHER Don't eat this bread before lunch, because this is all you are going to eat today.
MADRASTRA No coman este pan antes del almuerzo porque esto es todo lo que comern en el da de
hoy.
HANSEL / GRETEL We won't.
HANSEL / GRETEL No lo haremos.
NARRATOR While they were walking, Hansel was leaving trail of breadcrumbs in order to find their
way back home. And when they reached the deep forest, their stepmother said to them:
NARRADOR Mientras caminaban Hansel iba arrojando miguitas de pan para encontrar luego su
camino de regreso a la cabaa. Y cuando llegaron a la espesura del bosque su madrastra
les dijo:

NARRATOR Once upon a time there was a girl called Little Red Riding Hood...
MOTHER Granny is ill in bed. Be a good girl and take her some food, will you?
MADRE La abuelita est en cama enferma. S una buena nia y llvale algo de comer, de acuerdo?
RIDING HOOD OK, mum. I will follow the path in the woods.
MOTHER Yes. Please go straight to Granny's and don't speak to any strangers!
MADRE S. Por favor vete directo a la casa de la abuelita y no hables con ningn extrao!
NARRATOR Little Red Riding Hood is looking for some flowers for her Granny when she meets a wolf...
NARRADOR Caperucita est buscando flores para su abuelita cuando se encuentra con un lobo...
RIDING HOOD To visit my Granny who is very ill. She lives in the yellow house on the other side of the woods.
CAPERUCITA A visitar a mi abuelita que est enferma. Vive en la casa amarilla del otro lado del bosque.
WOLF You don't say! Allow me to escort you. You never know what you may find in the woods.
LOBO No me digas! Djame acompaarte. Nunca se sabe que puedes encontrar en el bosque.
WOLF Oh, look at these pretty flowers here! Why not pick a few. Grannies love flowers, you know.
LOBO Oh Mira estas hermosas flores! Por qu no recoger algunas? Sabes, a las abuelas les encantan las
flores.
RIDING HOOD Thanks, good idea! I will pick some flowers for Granny.
NARRATOR But while Little Red Riding Hood was picking a pretty bouquet, the clever wolf ran to Granny's
house and knocked at the door...
NARRADOR Pero mientras Caperucita Roja recoga un hermoso ramo, el hbil lobo corri a la casa de la
abuela y golpe a su puerta...
NARRATOR And the wolf gobbled Granny right up. Then he put on her nightcap and went to bed. Little Red
Riding Hood knocked at the door...
NARRADOR Pero el lobo se devor a la abuelita sin vueltas. Luego se puso su gorro de dormir y se meti en la
cama. Caperucita Roja golpe a la puerta...
RIDING HOOD Hi! Ohhh, Granny, what big eyes you have!!
NARRATOR And the wolf gobbled Little Red Riding Hood right up. He was so pleased that he fell asleep and
started snoring loudly. But a woodcutter passing by was alarmed...
NARRADOR Y el lobo se devor a Caperucita Roja sin vueltas. Estaba tan satisfecho que pronto se qued
dormido y empez a roncar ruidosamente. Pero un leador que por all pasaba se alarm...
WOODCUTTER That doesn't sound like Granny. I will go inside and see what is happening.
NARRATOR And so the brave woodcutter went inside, killed the sleeping wolf, cut it open and out jumped
Granny and Little Red Riding Hood...
NARRADOR Y as fue que el valiente leador entr, mat al lobo que dorma, le abri la panza y, de un salto,
salieron la abuelita y Caperucita Roja...
NARRATOR Little Red Riding Hood promised never ever to speak to another stranger and she never did. And
they all lived happily ever after.
NARRADOR Caperucita Roja prometi no volver a hablar con extraos nunca ms y no volvi a hacerlo. Y
todos ellos vivieron para siempre felices.
The magic lamp
Characters:Father Son Spirit
Narrator: A long time ago there was a woodcutter who had only one son.One day he
said.
Father: I have decided to use all my savings to give you a good education, so that you
can have a decent and honest job which will help us survive when I can no longer work.
Boy: Thank you father. I will study hard and you will be proud of me.
Narrator: The young boy went to the university where he spent there three
years. One day the boy received a letter from his father.
Boy: (thinking) My father doesn`t have any money and I can`t stay here anymore. I
have to go back.
Boy: Don`t worry father, I will go with you to the forest and I will help you.
Father: It`s hard work, and you`re not used to it. Besides, we only have one ax and
we don`t have money to buy another one.
Boy: Why don`t you ask our neighbor to lend you his ax?
Father: That`s a good idea and we will buy another one when we have enough money.
Narrator: Next day, their neighbor lent them an ax, and so they went to the forest to
work. After lunch, the boy said.
Father: Don`t take too long, we still have a lot of work to do.
Boy: I won`t.
Narrator: When he was in the deep woods, he saw an enormous oak tree.Then he
heard a voice calling him.
Boy: What a strange little bottle and the voice is coming from inside.
Narrator: As soon as the boy opened the bottle, the little creature started to grow,
and grow, and grow, until it became a huge giant.
Spirit: Prepare yourself! I`m going to eat you! I have been here for a long time, and I
am very hungry!
Boy: Wait, wait before you do, I have to be sure that it was you who was inside the
bottlethen you can eat me.
Spirit: How?
Boy: Get smaller again!
Narrator: Then the giant got smaller, and smaller, and smaller, and the boy closed the
bottle again.
Spirit: Let me out! If you do, I will do whatever you want me to do! Let me out! I will
make you rich! I`m telling you the truth! Let me out of here!
Boy: You have to promise that you will not eat me!
Spirit: I promise.
Narrator: The boy opened the bottle, and the little creature started to grow, until it
became a huge giant once again.
Spirit: Take this handkerchief. When you suffer an injury, cover it with the
handkerchief, and it will heal instantly. And when you cover a metal object with it, the
metal will turn into silver.
Boy: Go now you are free!
Narrator: As soon as the giant left, the boy returned to where his father was.
Father: Where have you been? It`s getting dark and we haven`t finished.
Narrator: The boy took the ax and cleaned it with the handkerchief, and suddenly the
ax turned into silver, and broke.
Father: You broke the ax! Now we have to pay for it, and we dont have any money!
Narrator: The boy took the broken ax and saw that it had turned into silver.
Narrator: Then the boy told his father about the giant.
Narrator: They sold the ax almost immediately, and bought a new one for their
neighbor.
Boy: And with all this money I can go back to the university, where I will become a
doctor.

Personajes: Padre Hijo Espritu
Narrador: Hace mucho tiempo haba un leador que slo tena un hijo. Un da, dijo.
Padre: He decidido usar todos mis ahorros para darte una buena educacin, para que puedas
tener un trabajo decente y honesto que nos ayude a sobrevivir cuando ya no puedo trabajar.
Narrador: El joven fue a la universidad donde pas all tres aos. Un da el muchacho recibi una
carta de su padre.
Chico: (pensando) Mi padre no tiene dinero y ya no puedo quedarme aqu. Tengo que volver.
Padre: Esa es una buena idea ... y compraremos otra cuando tengamos suficiente dinero.
Narrador: Al da siguiente, su vecino les prest un hacha, y as fueron al bosque a trabajar. Despus
del almuerzo, dijo el chico.
Padre: No te tomes demasiado tiempo, todava tenemos mucho trabajo por hacer.
Chico: No lo he ganado.
Narrador: Cuando estaba en el bosque profundo, vio un enorme roble. Entonces oy una voz que
lo llamaba.
Narrador: Cuando el nio estaba caminando, vio una botella en el suelo con una pequea criatura
dentro. Con cuidado, cogi la botella.
Narrador: Tan pronto como el chico abri la botella, la pequea criatura comenz a crecer, crecer
y crecer, hasta convertirse en un enorme gigante.
Espritu: Preprate! Te voy a comer! He estado aqu por mucho tiempo, y estoy muy hambriento!
Chico: Espera, espera ... antes que t, tengo que estar seguro de que fuiste t quien estaba dentro
de la botella ... entonces puedes comerme.
Chico: Demustrelo!
Espritu: Cmo?
Boy: Consiga ms pequeo otra vez!
Espritu: Djame salir! Si lo haces, har lo que quieras que haga! Djame salir! Te har rico! Te
estoy diciendo la verdad! Djame salir de aqu!
Espritu: Gracias!
Chico: Cmo puedes ayudarme?
Espritu: Toma este pauelo. Cuando sufres una lesin, cbrela con el pauelo y sanar
instantneamente. Y cuando usted cubre un objeto de metal con l, el metal se convertir en
plata.
Narrador: Tan pronto como el gigante se fue, el nio regres a donde estaba su padre.
Narrador: El muchacho tom el hacha y lo limpi con el pauelo, y de repente el hacha se convirti
en plata, y se rompi.
Padre: Rompiste el hacha! Ahora tenemos que pagar por ello, y no tenemos dinero!
Narrador: El muchacho tom el hacha rota y vio que se haba convertido en plata.
Padre: Qu es?
Chico: Es plata.
Narrador: Vendieron el hacha casi inmediatamente, y compraron uno nuevo para su vecino.
Chico: Y con todo este dinero puedo volver a la universidad, donde me convertir en mdico.
