Amjads Story

Studying at the EWC was a second birth for me.

Such an inspiration gave me a different understanding about leadership practices and skills.
So many ideas inspired me in the U.S.
My willingness to make a positive change in my community and my deep belief that Education is
the core of change, motivated me to start the Middle East Environmental Leadership Program.

The Middle East Environmental Leadership Program (MEELP) is a project-based, community

service-focused environmental leadership training program held the Palestinian territories.

MEELP brings together people with different skill sets, including environmental leaders, NGOs
representatives, environmentalists, and judges to share ideas, exchange experiences, form teams,
build projects for a greener Palestine, and develop young environmental leaders who are focused
on action, not talking.
I was one of the beneficiaries as well. Through MEELP I developed an underground waste
collection system. Basically, it is an innovative new underground container system that is adaptive
and cost effective and replaces traditional waste containers. The new system is not only
environmentally friendly but beautifies the city and saves on street cleaning.

My team and I won the 3rd prize in the 2015 Start-Up-Cup competition and got funding to apply the
project in realty at the Nativity Church in Bethlehem.

Developing MEELP to be more sustainable and reliable lead me to the current project which is
Robik Education.
Robik Education started since May 2016. Robik is a business with social impact. We target
children aged 5-15 to teach them extracurricular environmental related skills and new sciences
such as making products from household waste, building robots from waste, mental arithmetic and
other activities that help develop their brains and new mentalities. We also sell some intelligence
and green toys. So far Robik affected the lives of thousands of people and the good work is
moving forward despite difficulties and obstacles.
Lastly but not least I was selected as an Alumni Leader for the north of Palestine by the US
Consulate General. Our mission is to keep the alumni community active and connected by doing
social and cultural activities.

I do not aspire to make a living. I aspire to make a difference;

So, such an honor of being awarded the Alumni Impact Leadership Award (ALIA) 2017.
Another motivation to step forward, expand, and accelerate my ideas and projects to reach more
people, more places and create a positive change in the community.
