1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 This manual

This manual describes the implementation of a Profibus connection to UNISAB for the Extended Profibus
protocol.
The first part of the manual is a short description of the protocol Ext..
The next part of the manual is a description of how to set up a Profibus connection between a UNISAB and a
Mitsubishi PLC.

1.2 Modules and requirements

Mitsubishi PLC software modules available:

Mitsubishi Melsec AnS/QnAS (A1SJ71PB92D) Profibus module.

Mitsubishi Melsec system Q (QJ71PB92D) Profibus module.
Mitsubishi Melsec system FX2N (FX2N-64DP-M) Profibus module.

Mitsubishi requirements:

Mitsubishi CPU system Q or AnS/QnAS with the matching card, Mitsubishi Melsec AnS/QnAS
(A1SJ71PB92D) Profibus module or Mitsubishi Melsec system Q (QJ71PB92D) Profibus module.

2 EXAMPLE OF PROFIBUS NETWORK

Below is an example of a Profibus network.
The Profibus network must be terminated in both ends.

Termination of the UNISAB is done with the Profibus connector, it is recommended to use WAGO 750-960
or SIEMENS 6ES7 972-0BB10-0XA0. The switch must be set to ON (terminated) for the first and last unit.

Below is an example of a Profibus connector connected to the UNISAB III connector X21.

3 SET-UP FOR PROFIBUS COMMUNICATION

Go to menu Setup/Configuration/Communication. The Communication menu includes Danbuss and Profibus
set-up.

Danbus compressor number.

Danbus communication speed.
Profibus enables communication.
Profibus unit number in the network.
Profibus communication status (auto detect)
Profibus protocols
Tiny = 08AA
Extended = 095D

The Dig. In via Profibus includes all 11 digital inputs.

Information about digital input can be found in the I/O matrix in the Engineering manual

YES = Receive values from profibus

No = Read values from controller
cassette. (default)

Please note: Controlling the digital input through the Profibus is only possible when using the Ext. protocol.

4 PROTOCOL

4.1 Ext. protocol

The Profibus DP Ext. can send 42 integers and receive 10 integers Mitsubishi.

The Ext. protocol has the possibility to send and receive a telegram. In this telegram it is possible to access
almost all the variables in a UNISAB. For more information on the telegram and its specifications, see the
document UNISAB Profibus Specification_Ext.

5 MITSUBISHI

5.1 Introduction
Mitsubishi Profibus DP Master:
Supports up to 60 slaves on the network depending on the CPU.
With electrical wiring and the use of repeaters, the network capacity can be up to 4.8 km.
It is the master on the network.
The UNISAB is a slave on the network.

For more information on Mitsubishi Profibus DP, see http://www.mitsubishi-automation.com/

5.2 Requirements
Mitsubishi CPU system Q or AnS/QnAS with the matching card, Mitsubishi Melsec AnS/QnAS
(A1SJ71PB92D) Profibus module or Mitsubishi Melsec system Q (QJ71PB92D) Profibus module.
Mitsubishi Melsec system FX2N (FX2N-64DP-M) Profibus module.

5.3 Software steps

Configure the Mitsubishi Master card with the software GX Configurator DP from Mitsubishi.

The first step is to create a new project or open an existing project.

In this example a new project is created.
Select the menu Start > Programs > Melsoft Application > GX Configurator-DP and then File > New.

Select the Master module Profibus DP (QJ71PB92D) E Mode or Profibus DP (A1SJ71PB92D) E Mode
(E Mode = Send/receive (244 bytes/244 bytes))

Double-click the icon for the CPU to change specific data for your project.
The new project is not saved.
