II. Course Title: The Teaching Profession Pre-requisite
III. Course Description:
This course deals with the teacher as an individual, classroom teacher, community
teacher and global teacher. This emphasizes professionalization to cover teachers status
and levels of professional rewards and professionalism to improve competencies. This talks
about the intricacies of teaching and about teaching both as a mission, a vocation and a
profession.
IV. Course Objectives:
Cognitive (Knowledge)
1. Define roles of teachers as individual and classroom managers.
2. Identify the responsibilities of a global teacher.
3. State the various aspects of teaching as a profession.
Affective (Attitude)
1. Internalize and practice the values of a professional teacher.
2. Find meaning of ones total involvement in the teaching profession.
Psychomotor (Skills)
1. Develop a plan of activity for teachers which will show the important aspects of the
teaching profession.
