Dictation.

The rise in the number of working mothers has brought about a long-standing debates on the meritss and
demerits of the extra salary. Are the children prejudiced by not having mothers nearby all day? Are women
better or worst off by going out to work? Is the husband's role diminished?

The main advantage of a mother going out to work is the pecuniary gain for the family. More and more of
families find that the extra money is what keeps them afloat from month to month. A little recognized
dividend, thought, is her own fulfillment. Some women are quite contented to stay at home and care for the
children and the house. Most adults, however, feel the need to do something useful (not that being a housewife
and mother is not useful), to get out and meet new people, and have a real sense of selfworth wealth which is
otherwise denied to them.
