19 ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING SPEED LIMIT
20 WITHIN THE TOWN PROPER OF DASMA
21 RINAS, CAVITE

23 Be it ordained in a session duly assembled that:

24 SECTION 1. OBJECTIVES:
25 a. To prescribe speed restrictions within the town proper so as not to
26 endanger life, limb and property of any person.
27 b. To discipline drivers to be more cautious particularly on crowded
28 streets, church and school zones.

29 SECTION 2. SCOPE:
30 This ordinance shall be enforced within the town proper particularly on
31 the following areas:
32 1. Camerino Avenue
33 2. P. Campos Avenue (from Sabang boundary to San Agustin II
34 crossing)
35 3. Inner streets

36 SECTION 3. SPEED RESTRICTIONS:

a. Any person driving a motor vehicle on the roads within the town

1 proper shall drive the same at a careful and prudent speed, not greater nor
2 less than is reasonable and proper, having due regard for the traffic and the
3 width of the road, and of any other condition then and there existing and no
4 person shall drive any motor vehicle at such a speed as to endanger anyone
5 or any property, not a speed greater than will permit him to bring the vehicle
6 to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead.
7 b. Subject to the provision of the preceding paragraph, the rate of
8 speed of any motor vehicle shall not exceed the following:

9 ROADS/AVENUES MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE

10 1. Main streets (P. Campos,
11 Camerino Avenue, I. Mangubat 30 Kph
12 N. Guevarra St.)

13 2. Inner streets 30 Kph

14 SECTION 4. EXEMPTIONS:
15The rates of speed prescribed above shall not apply to the following:

1. A physician or his driver when the former responds to emergency

calls;
2. The driver of any ambulance on the way to and from the place of
accident or other emergency;
3. Any driver bringing a wounded or sick person for emergency
treatment to a hospital, clinic or any other similar place;
4. The driver of a motor vehicle belonging to the Armed Forces while
in use for official purposes in times of riot, insurrection or invasion;
5. The driver of a vehicle, when he or his passenger is in pursuit of a
criminal;
6. A law-enforcement officer who is trying to overtake a violator of
traffic laws; and
7. The driver officially operating a motor vehicle of any fire
department, provided that these exemptions shall not be construed to allow
useless or unnecessary fast driving of drivers aforementioned.

SECTION 5: PENALTY CLAUSE:

First Offense: Five Hundred Pesos (P500.00)
Second Offense: One Thousand Pesos (P1,000.00)
Third Offense: One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P1,500.00) or
imprisonment of one (1) week or both at the
discretion of the court

1 SECTION 6. REPEALING CLAUSE:
2 All ordinances, rules and regulations, or parts thereof, whose
3 provisions are in conflict with, or contrary to the provisions of this ordinance
4 are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.

5 SECTION 5. EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE:

6 This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after approval.

7 APPROVED BY THE SANGGUNIANG BAYAN OF DASMARINAS, CAVITE

8 ON THE 2nd DAY OF MAY, 2000.

9 I hereby certify to the correctness of the above-quoted ordinance which

10 was duly adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan during its regular session
