Cadence G3 WBT for Legacy Users:

Directions for the Interactive Simulation Practice


Please download and use the following instructions when completing the various
Cadence simulation practices included in the web-based training (WBT) course.

Menu Overview
Tasks
1. Hover and Click each item in the main Menu.
2. View the corresponding Side Menu items (after clicking on a main menu item).

Editing a Well
Tasks
1. Create a new well.

Setting Up the Survey Program


Tasks
1. Using the Survey Program per Hole Section page and Wall Plot (last two
pages attached to end of this document), create a New Survey Program.
a. Enter the Name, Planned Depth Range
b. Select NaviTrak as the Primary Tool, and enter todays date as the
i. Declination Date.
ii. Note: Survey Program Status is Not Ready
2. Click between each of the various North Reference types, Grid, True, and
a. Magnetic
b. Note: compass changes as does disabling of various entry field.
3. Select Grid as your reference.
4. Continue filling out reference fields and then use BGGM as your Magnetic
Reference Source.
a. Remember that a negative North Reference value is east and positive
value is west.
i. Note: Entered Gt value is out of range. Select the Calculated
Values on the BGGM modal popup.
5. Complete Survey Program Details.
a. Select Standard for Magnetic Spacing Model.
b. Select NaviTrak (Standard) for Mag Error Model.
6. Press Save.
a. Note: Status of Survey Program has changed to Ready.
7. Press Activate.
Adding the NaviGamma Tool
Tasks
1. Click Add Tool
2. Browse Catalog of Baker tools.
3. Search for a Navigamma tool by searching with the word "navigamma".
a. navigamma must be typed in all lowercase for the simulation.
4. Hover and Click on the highlighted tool name in the search results and add the
tool to the Inventory list.
5. Click on Navigamma to Edit Tool.
6. Enter the Total Length of the tool.
7. Enter the Gamma Sensor Offset.

Adding the OnTrak Tool


Tasks
1. Click Add Tool.
2. Browse Catalog of Baker tools.
3. Search for a Ontrak tool by searching with the word "ontrak".
a. ontrak must be typed in all lowercase for the simulation.
4. Hover and Click on the highlighted tool name in the search results and add the
tool to the Inventory list.
5. Click on Ontrak to Edit Tool.
6. Click Resistivity Sensor Details.
7. Import Resistivity Calculations from file.

Adding Motors to Inventory


A Motor has already been added to your Inventory.

Tasks
1. Hover and Click on the highlighted Motor (Generic) tool in the Inventory list.
2. Select a Stator Stabilizer, and enter stabilizer Detail info.
3. Select an AKO Bend Type, and enter AKO bend Detail info.
4. Save.

To see the other stabilizer options:


Repeat steps 1-4 for Connection Tube Stabilizer and Upper Bearing Stabilizer

Viewing Memory Visualization


In between Runs or after.
Tasks
1. Open Memory Viewer by navigating to Pre-Run > Memory Visualization >
Memory Visualization.
2. Select a memory dump file folder (we have already selected one for you) and
Open that folder.
3. Select a GAMMA file (gamma file) and View File(s).
4. Click back to Memory Files and select all Mnemonics from the GAMMA File.
5. Click View Graph.
6. Toggle between File(s) and Graph tabs, then go back to the Memory Files.

Using the RTViz Screen


A Run has been started.

Tasks
1. Open RTViz by navigating to Realtime > Data Display > RT Visualization.
2. Open System Folder > Navigamma-STRose-MWD-VSS-Surface.xml.
3. Enable Edit mode by (right-clicking) on any data widget, log track, or white
space and selecting "Enter edit mode" from the menu.
4. Drag the widget around the screen and Drop back in position.
5. Double-Click on Data Widget with GRAX and edit the Label field with "INC" and
the Mnemonic field with "SVYINC".
6. Save As the edited template with a new template name called "UserTest" in the
User file directory.

Using Survey Monitor


Tasks
1. Surveys display as Pending (top section) or Accepted (bottom section).
Hover each row.
2. Surveys display the QC Status.
a. Some surveys can pass Quality Check and be slightly out of range.
b. Click yellow Passed button to preview trend.
3. Click Expander icon on left side of newly pending survey to expand details.
4. Change 2,030.00 to 2,036.
5. Press Accept button.

Using Survey Editor


During a real time Run, you previously acquired survey data. You still have survey data
that has not been "Accepted" and saved to the database.
Tasks
1. Open Survey Editor by navigating to Realtime > Survey Processing > Survey
Editor.
2. Click on the Status down arrow in the Status header.
3. Select "Undefined" then click OK.
4. In the new rows select the row and then edit the Surveys by Accepting the
Surveys.
5. Click Save
Module Practice: Using the Inventory Tool Management Screen
Tasks
1. Click Add Tool
2. Browse Catalog of Baker tools.
3. Search for a Bit tool by searching with the word "bit". Then hover and click on
the highlighted tool name in the search results and add the tool to the
Inventory list.
4. Search for a NaviGamma tool by searching with the word "navigamma" (in
lowercase for the simulation). Then hover and click on the highlighted tool
name in the search results and add the tool to the Inventory list.
5. Search for a Curve tool by searching with the word "curve". Then hover and
click on the highlighted tool name in the search results and add the tool to the
Inventory list.
6. Search for a Radioactive Source by searching with the word "radioactive".
Then hover and click on the highlighted source name in the search results
and add the source to the Inventory list under the Equipment tab.
