We are your childs grade 7 teachers. To ensure that your child has the best possible learning
environment, we have developed the following Classroom Contract. These expectations are for all
students. We will do our best to support your child and appreciate your support as well.

Class Expectations for the students:

1. Be considerate and respect others and raise hand to speak.

2. Arrive to class on time and be prepared.
3. Begin class by doing expected requirements.
4. Do your OWN work and NOT COPY other students work.
5. Make-up missed tests and quizzes within three days of your return unless other arrangements
have been made with your teacher.
6. Be responsible for your own work when absent from class
7. Enjoy learning and do your best each and every day. Participation is expected. Participation
involves critical thinking, reading, note taking or outlining, essay writing, problem solving,
discussion and listening.
8. Electronic devices are not permitted in the classroom. Students can be reached through the
school office.
9. Assignments or projects not completed will receive a zero grade.
10. Extra help is available every day during lunch and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after
period 9.

Homework:
All homework is due on the given due date. Homework can NOT be handed in late. A missed
homework is a 0.

Lateness:
Lateness to class is unacceptable. Lateness to all classes will be recorded. If the student is not
correcting their behavior further action will be taken.

Midterms and Finals:

Midterms are worth 20% of a students second quarter grade, and finals are worth 20% of a
students yearly average.

In English class this year we hope that students will strengthen their writing, reading, and
critical thinking skills. The best way to ensure this is to come to class prepared with
assigned reading and work completed. Students will be asked to read at home throughout
the year, which is imperative to their growth. In addition, one of the most important skills
for English class is the ability to actively participate in class, including partner, group, and
whole-class discussions and collaborative learning experiences. As reading is the
foundation in our classroom for writing, class discussions, and critical thinking, please help
support your child's success by continuing the conversation at home about the importance
and necessity of reading. Thank you for helping make English class a positive experience
for your child!

Course Requirements
The Grade 7 NYS Math assessment will be given in May.
Proper care must be given to your school issued calculator. It must be returned in
June.
All handouts are to be kept in your folder. This folder may be emptied at the end of
each quarter, but handouts must be saved in a safe place at home or in your locker.
Homework is graded upon completeness, not correctness, on a scale of 0 to 2.
o 0- Not completed by the due date
o 1- Incomplete, work not shown, or completed after class on the due date
o 2- Complete, all work shown, in pencil, and in class on the due date
Students in Math 7A must maintain an 85% average to continue in acceleration.

2. Class will begin at the bell. Students must behave properly during class. This includes
answering questions, listening, taking notes, working in groups and treating others with
respect. Any talking or other disruptive behavior will mean points off their participation
grade and possible detention.

3. Students will have a homework sheet posted on my website at the beginning of each
week.

4. Late homework not accepted (except for excused absence).

5. Tests must be made up within 3 days of missing one.

6. Late projects will be penalized 10 points for each day late. Not accepted after 3rd
day.

7. If students have an extended excused absence, teachers will make suitable timeline for
missed work/tests.
