The goal of screening exams for early breast cancer detection is to find cancers before they start to cause symptoms. Screening
refers to tests and exams used to find a disease, such as cancer, in people who do not have any symptoms. Early detection

32ND ANNUAL HARTFORD STEWARTS SPUD RUN
will take place on Sat., Oct. 14, at the Hartford Central School,
Intersection of Rts. 40 & 149, 15 miles east of Glens Falls. The
1 mile Fun Run goes off at 9 am, followed by the competitive
5K Race at 10 am. All 5K Pre-Registrants will receive a Race
T-Shirt. Post-Race refreshments include: coffee, oranges, Phils
Almost Famous Five-Alarm Chili and Spud Run Birthday
Cakelets. Awards will be given to the first three male and female
finishers overall, as well as to the first three in each of the ten
age divisions. The fun run is free. Entry for the 5K is $15, $20
on race day. The race benefits the Senior Class of 2018.

HELP CLEAN UP THE BATTENKILL: Columbus Day weekend. The Battenkill Conservancy
(BkC) and Trout Unlimited Clearwater Chapter (TUCC) invite you to dedicate an hour or two to
help ensure the scenic roadside that hugs the Battenkill along State Route 313 is litter free. Join
these two groups as they collect the trash that is carelessly discarded from passing cars and motorists.
Working with the NYS Department of Transaction and NYS DEC who collects all collected trash,
the two groups maintain a 5 miles section of the highway that connects the bucolic towns of both
Vermont and New York. In addition to knowing you did your part to welcome friends and visitors
to Washington County, coffee and donuts are provided for all volunteers. The Keep it Clean
Clean Up begins at 9am on Saturday, Oct 7, 2017 at the State Line Route 313 Rest Area. Gloves
and safety vests are provided. No pre-registration is required. For more info:
