Silo Fire

At 07:55 Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to at a structural

Fire at Resolute Forest Products on Neebing Ave. There was a
report of a silo containing wood chips was on Fire. Upon arrival
the officer in Command upgraded the response to a second alarm.
A bearing in an auger had overheated inside the silo and caused
ignition of the wood chips. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue remained on
scene for eighteen hours. During this time, Resolute Forest
Products removed the wood chips with front end loaders out an
access door and Thunder Bay fire Rescue continued Fire
suppression as burning material was removed. No injuries were
reported and damage to the silo was kept at a minimal.
