Szczecin great city
Szczecin, the third largest city in
Poland in terms of area, is situated in
the north-western part of Poland, by
the German-Polish border. In addition
to its close proximity to the sea and
a picturesque location on the delta of
the Odra River, this harbor city offers
many more attractions. Its prime
location gives the residents of Szczecin
the opportunity to spend their quality
time in an attractive manner. Trips to
the seaside, Berlin or Pozna do not
require a lot of time or money (just EUR
6 is enough to get to the capital city of
Germany). You can also enjoy numerous
scenic bike paths and hiking trails

Practical information for students
Getting to and around Szczecin
By air Szczecin-Goleniw Airport
is served by daily domestic and
international flights and is situated
45 km from the city center and our
university. Szczecin-Goleniw Airport
has a good bus connection with the
center of Szczecin.
By train There are fast and express
train connections between Szczecin and
Berlin (approximately a 2-hour trip)
as well as other destinations in Poland
and Europe. The main railway station is
situated in the city center, not far from
the WSB University campus (15 minutes
by train).
By car Szczecin is an important road
and railroad junction situated about
150 km from both Berlin. Getting to
Szczecin from Berlin by car takes about
2 hours.
Public transportation
The city transportation system operates
24 hours a day and comprises bus
and tram routes and the Szczecin
Fast Tramway (SST). Using public
transportation is advisable not only

Practical information for students
Labor market
EU students are allowed to work in
Poland without any work permits. Many
of them do part-time or temporary
jobs. Non-EU students are allowed to
work on the basis of a Student Visa or
Temporary Residence Permit.
Temporary Residence Permit

Insurance
EU and EFTA students should obtain
a European Health Insurance Card
(EHIC) before coming to Poland. The
card entitles its holder to use public
health care services in the territory of
Poland. The EHIC is issued free.
Students from non-EU/EEA countries
should purchase their own international
medical insurance prior to their arrival
in Poland. Otherwise they are required
to sign a voluntary health insurance
agreement with the National Health
Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia
NFZ) and pay their own insurance
fees. Under this insurance scheme,
students are entitled to free medical
