I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

Philippine tourism industry has been a concern by many Filipinos. It is a key source of foreign exchange heavily on the country's balance of
payments and the purchasing power of peso. It is a main source of employment to millions of Filipinos working in various hotels and resorts,
restaurant and bars, travel agencies, tour companies, entertainment outlets, parks, museums, galleries, theaters, casinos, et al. around the
country and abroad (Cabulay & Carpio, 2011).

Just like any dynamic industry, the forces of the market create various business and personal experiences that cause challenging situations
to arise. This course will provide a serious look at the different laws affecting the Philippine tourism industry.

II. DESIRED LEARNING OUTCOMES (Enumerate General objectives of the subject which is align to the ELGA and Program Outcomes)

On the completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to do the following:

1. Be guided legally and ethically in their daily conduct when they go into practice
2. Be able to prevent litigation by familiarizing relevant tourism laws
3. Be able to promote industrial peace

III. FINAL OUTPUT:
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of all topics that were discussed from the start of the course. You may use as reference the book cited in this
syllabus. All other sources are acceptable except sources from general information websites such as investopedia or wikipedia. All sources must be
cited following the APA format. Submission of the final product will not accepted not later that the week before the finals week. No extensions will
be allowed.

V. CLASS POLICY

You can expect me:


To start and end class on time.
To reply to e-mails within 24 hours on weekdays and 48 hours on weekends.
To assign homework that adequately covers the material and meets the learning objectives of the course while adhering to the time
expectations for a 3 unit course.
To give exams that accurately reflect the material covered in class and assigned in homework.

I can expect you:

To come to class on time.


To be attentive and engaged in class.
To refrain from using laptops, cell phones and other electronic devices during class.
To spend an adequate amount of time on the homework each week, making an effort to solve and understand each problem.
To engage with both the abstract and computational sides of the material.
To seek help when appropriate.
