6. Rationale for the inclusion of the course in the There is a dire need to study business law, mainly due to the
programme fact that a consideration and an appreciation of the basic
principles of Malaysian law in the commercial context is
essential and crucial so as to provide a good exposure and to
give a clearer picture to those who are and will engage in
commerce and business.

7. Course Description This course begins with a brief introduction of the Malaysian
Legal System, considering the background of the students in
Law, before proceeding to the integral part of the course namely
business principles, rules and regulations of business practices
as applied in Malaysia. The course covers a wide area of
business law comprising the Contract Law, Commercial Law
and Partnership Law.

9. Course Outcomes At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1) Use the written law and unwritten law in Malaysia. (C3)
2) Examine on proposal, acceptance, consideration and
intention to create legal relations, capacity and consent to
contract, express and implied terms, condition and
warranty, ways in which a contract may be discharged and
types of remedies for breach of contract. (C4, A3, P4)
3) Apply the scope of the law on and formation of the sale of
goods and of hire purchase agreements. (C3)
4) Apply the law on relations of partners in partnership to one
another and with outsiders, authority and liability of partners
as well as dissolution of partnership. (C3)
