DIVERGENT QUESTIONS
INTRODUCTION TO LESSON
Evaluating Websites
It is important to note that we will not be using the CRAAP model with our students, but it is still a great
introduction.
Now, staff will watch this video which would be appropriate for student use.
Evaluating Websites with the 5 W's
GUIDED PRACTICE
At this time, staff will be given this handout. Together, discuss the 5 W model for evaluating websites.
Then, using this tool, staff will choose several websites from the list below to evaluate. Staff may want to work
in partners or grade levels to discuss.
I have included a complete list for staff or students to use during lesson for future reference.
For this specific In-service, staff should click on the first link.
Discuss their initial thoughts on the website based on the video they watched.
Now, they can choose several other websites to evaluate.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Ask staff to choose one website that they evaluated to present to the group.
During their presentation, they will use the tool to determine the websites helpfulness and validity.
Allow time to discuss.
CLOSURE
Staff will complete a Google Form to explain what they have learned and their confidence level in presenting to
students.
Use the Google Form to plan with staff for further teaching and co-teaching opportunities.
