1. Sigmund Freud
He made a theory of psychoanalysis where it talks about how man has an iceberg and is
divided to three different division of personality and it controls our personality. They are
Id, Superego and ego.
He made a theory of psychosexual development where it focuses on three different
erogenous zone of man where he/she develops its personality that are oral, anal and
phallic.

2. Abraham Maslow
He approached the study of personality by focusing on subjective experiences, free will,
and the innate drive toward self-actualization.
Maslow's hierarchy of needs ranks human needs from the most basic physical needs to
the most advanced needs of self-actualization. A person must acquire and master each
level of need before proceeding to the next need.

3. Albert Bandura
He made Social Learning theory where it talks about people learn from one another, by
observation, imitation, and modeling.
He made a theory that human behaviors and personalities are developed over time by
their experiences.

4. Alfred Adler
He made a theory that thinking, feeling, emotion, and behavior can only be understood
as subordinated to the individual's style of life, or consistent pattern of dealing with life.
He made a theory that a person's fictional goal may be influenced by hereditary and
cultural factors, but it ultimately springs from the creative power of the individual, and is
consequently unique.

5. Carl Jung
He believed the libido was not just sexual energy, but instead generalized psychic energy.
It was also an individuals motivational source for seeking pleasure and reducing conflict.
He believes symbols from different cultures are often very similar because they have
emerged from archetypes shared by the whole human race.

6. Dollard & Miller


They made a Stimulus-Response Theory, which stipulates that personality conflicts are
learned and could therefore be unlearned. This theory is the role played by fear, conflict
and repression in maladaptive learning which may result to neurosis.
They made a concept about learning combines four processes: drive, cue, response and
reinforcement. Drive is the engine. The cue tells you when, where and how to respond.
Your response is any behavior or sequence of behaviors you perform. And reinforcement
is the consequence of drive being reduced.

7. Julian Rotter
He suggested in Social Learning Theory that the expected effect or outcome of the
behavior influences the motivation of people to engage in that behavior. People wish to
avoid negative consequences, while desiring positive results or effects.
He believed in locus of control that the scale was an adequate measure of just two
concepts, achievement and outer-directedness, or tendency to conform to others

8. Gordon Allport
He developed a list of 4500 trait like words. He organized these into three levels of
traits. These three are cardinal, central and secondary.
He hypothesized the idea of internal and external forces that influence an individuals
behavior. He called these forces Genotypes and Phenotypes.

9. Viktor Frankl
He believed that people are primarily driven by a striving to find meaning in one's life,
and that it is this sense of meaning that enables people to overcome painful
experiences.
He made a concept of Existential psychotherapy is a philosophical method of therapy that
operates on the belief that inner conflict within a person is due to that individual's
confrontation with the givens of existence.
