Using the Coca-Cola advert as stimulus answer the following questions

1. Label / Identify and discuss 4 Elements of Design present in this advertisement (8 marks)

Colour
The colour used in the picture is a cream background with a bright factory to seem
like a clean place and to contrast the brown of the bottles to make them stand out
and become the dominant objects in the photo.
3D Form-
The bottles in this picture look like 3D images because the use of light on one side
of the bottle give it a smooth 3D feel and makes them look realistic like an actual
photograph
Texture-
The texture of the bottle caps make them look like they are made from metal as
intended and the glass is smooth and has ridges in it to make for great realism.
Tone-
The left side of the bottle progressively gets lighter to the right side which has a
reddish tint on it. The tone also helps it look realistic.

2. Identify 2 critical Principles of Design present in this advertisement (2 marks)

Emphasis-
The Coca Cola logo in the middle of the bottom third is in bright red with white
writing to stop your eye and if you didnt already identify the coke brand for the
bottles it clearly stands out from the rest of the picture
Movement-
The bottles are all the same and by making them progressively bigger as it goes
from left to right it gives you the feeling that the bottles are moving towards you
by coming out of the poster.
3. Explain what you consider to be the advertising message that is being conveyed in this poster
(4 marks)

Each bottle of Coca Cola gets made in a clean white factory and there are lots of
it coming from afar, its coming to you because the bottles are getting bigger. It
also uses the slogan of continuous quality is quality you trust this slogan is
represented with the number of bottles (continuous). The quality you can trust is
represented with all the bottles looking the same.

4. Discuss how the Principles of Design help convey the message being delivered (4 marks)

The pattern is used to show that there are many bottles and the quality is the
same with all of them
The emphasis of the bright red Coca Cola sign helps to make the brand obvious
The contrast between the light background and the dark bottles helps to make
them stand out
The scale of the bottle and how far it is from the factory helps to show how
many there are
The unity shows that all the bottles are of equal quality
The balance between the size of the largest coke and the slogan and logo
make the objects balanced and not over balanced
The movement shows the bottles are coming towards you
The dominance of the coke logo and biggest coke bottle make them catch your
eye
5. Who is the audience for this piece of advertising consider and discuss gender, ethnicity, age,
social- economic status living status and wealth. Justify your discussion for each part citing
evidence from the advertising stimulus material. (8 marks)
The audience for this piece is for all ages because of the low price of 5 cents makes
it accessible for a whole range of people but mostly for adults because of the way
the bottle is depicted as a tall glass bottle with a dark liquid inside. I think it is
aimed at low economic areas because of its price and for all 36 gender (just
kidding there are only two), overall however I think this advertising is for most
people due to its simple slogan and bold features.
