Administrator logs in at www.gmetrix.net/manage using userID and password provided by

Certiport.
Administrator creates Access Codes which can be distributed to Students for accessing the
practice tests.
Student launches practice tests which have been installed on local computer by
Administrator. Student registers at www.gmetrix.net to create userID and password before
gaining access to the practice test system. Suggestion: Use the same userID and password as
their Certiport account.
Student enters Access Code, selects from options unlocked by the Access Code and begins
testing.
Student logs in at www.gmetrix.net to view history and results of tests taken.

Administrator: Create Access Codes:
Full Suite License
Access codes are created by the
Administrator and distributed to students.
You may create one access code for all
students or for ease in reviewing students
reports you may create multiple access
codes, one access code per class. *
1. Identifier: This is a unique way of
identifying the code(s) that are being
created. If there are multiple
teachers we recommend using your
initials at the beginning of the
identifier. (ie. LTBlk1)
2. Code Type Click the dot by the
Multiple User
3. It will ask you how many users per
code. Choose a number that is
higher than the number of students
in your class or classes (if using one
code for every student). You may
want a few more for new students.
4. Expires after: How many days will
the code last before it expire. Use
the default.
5. Go to next slide * For those who have a seat license refer to slide 11
Administrator: Create Access Codes
5. Tests: The checked boxes are the
practice tests that you would like your
students to access.
Uncheck ALL Tests
Check the version of Microsoft Office
software. By checking the version of
software all application options will
be available for your student to
access (recommended)
If you prefer to only have certain
applications available in your access
code expand the Office version you
have selected and uncheck the
applications you do NOT want
available for your students to access..
6. Allow View: Box should remained
checked. Click Next
7. Confirm settings Click Next
8. Finish Your access will appear in the
grey box. This is the code you will give to
your students to begin accessing the Tip: You may at any time edit the access code. The
Gmetrix practice tests. only fields that CANNOT be changed is your identifier
and the number of users per code.
Administrator: Create Access Codes:
Seat License
Access codes are created by the Administrator
and distributed to students. Because you have a
seat license you are limited to the number of
access codes being created (number of seats you
have). Example if you have a 10-seat license
each seat represents an access code. Therefore
only 10 codes can be used at the same time (the
11th is an extra for you)
1. Identifier: This is a unique way of identifying
the code(s) As a suggestion for a 10-seat
license since only 10 students at one time can
access the practice software would be to
name the codes (identifiers) by Comp 1 /
Comp 2 etc. and place a sticky note to the
computers. Note: you can load the gmetrix on
each computer in the lab as the number of
students is unlimited. This suggestion just
helps with tracking 10 students at one time
accessing the gmetrix software.
2. Code Type and number: Put in 10. One for each
seat.
3. Expires after: How many days will the code last
before it expire. Use the default.
4. For the additional fields, go back to slide 10.
Practice Test: Login
1. To access the practice tests, your students
would click on the Gmetrix SMS icon that
was installed by your IT Staff. When the
practice test software is launched the
following login screen will appear.
2. If this is the first time accessing, student will
need to register at Gmetrix. Click on Sign
up Now.
3. Once they have completed the registration,
close out the web site and click again on the
Gmetrix icon.

Tip: Be consistent with the naming convention

(example: 1st initial first name, last name and birthday.
Password can be the same for all students.
(recommend not to use e-mail addresses create
unique and consistent format on usernames)
Tip: The username & password is recommended to be
the same as when the student registers at Certiport
when they are ready to take the exam.
Tip: There is bulk registration that can be performed
by the teacher (please refer to the supplemental
slides at the end of the PP)
Note: The username is case sensitive.
PT Access Code Validation
1. After the student has successfully
logged in to the practice test
system, they will be asked to
enter in an Access Code. This is
the access code you created.
2. First time users will need to type
in the access code in the green
box.
3. Returning users, will click Take a
Test and the access code they
previously entered in will appear
below the green box. They would
click go next to the access code.
4. On subsequent logins to the
system the student will also have
the option of resuming any tests
that were saved before
completion by clicking on My
Tests.
PT Choose an Application
After entering a valid Access Code, the
student can choose which application test
they would like to take. The list of
available applications will depend on the
which boxes were check when the access
code was created.
They would then choose Training Mode
(offers step by step instructions by
accessing the help button) or Testing
Mode (help disabled and timed)
There are several preset tests available
quantity depending on application. The
testing mode and training mode for a
particular core is the same question pool.
Recommend a passing score of 85% (850)
or better in testing mode on all core
practice tests before moving on to the
Certification exam.
Office 2013 also has project -based
practice tests. We recommend the student
review both core practice tests and the
projects for Office 2013
Training Mode versus
Testing Mode
1. There are two modes for each
Microsoft Office application,
testing mode and training
mode.
2. The practice exam will begin
with instructions then the exam
will begin.
3. In training mode, the system
provides the student with
instant feedback after each
question is completed, detailing
if they have correctly answered
each task of the questions
objective.
4. The student then has the
opportunity to try again with
help. The question will be
repeated with specific
instructions for how to answer
the question correctly.
Help show me how
5. The student can also Reset
Tag question for later the question or continue to the
Next Question.
View list of questions 6. In testing mode : the show
me how is disabled as well as
Save the test
the feedback. It is timed and
similar to the exam experience.
Office 2013 Projects

In training mode
for the project-
based tests you
can also ask for
help

When you click

light bulb icon
next to the task,
it will show step-
by-step
instructions on
how to complete
the task.

If a student clicks the reset button in GMetrix it will reset the project from its last saved
position. Please note: In the actual Certification Exam, if the reset button is clicked it will
reset the entire project from the beginning.
.
PT Score Report

1. After completing the test, the

student is presented with a score
report.
2. A more detailed version of the
score report can be viewed by
clicking the Print version, or
online at www.gmetrix.net.
3. Click next to save the test

Using GMetrix

Gmetrix is a very flexible tool. How you integrate into your classes is based on your
class and teaching style.
Items to think about
Do you want to separate your reporting by classes? Create multiple access codes.
Do you want to use this tool as a check on knowledge prior to taking the exam? Use the
core practice tests exams and projects for Office 2013 after teaching the application.
Do you need flexibility to test after skill sets are taught? Create customized exams.
Do you want to implement a Pre-test assessment and Post-test assessment. Choose one
Core and/or Project in testing mode, removing the same test in training mode from the
access code.
Do you want to use GMetrix as a grading implement? Add and remove customized
exams from your access code(s) according to your lesson plans
Once you have established how you want to integrate, begin building out your
access codes and customized exams
Recap: Steps
Add additional teachers to the administrators panel (Accounts / View / Add Administrator
Create your access codes (review first how you would like to set up the codes). ) If youve
created multiple access codes, save them in a spreadsheet for easy tracking.
Create customized exams: either add to existing access code or create a new access code just
for your customized exams
Students create their student accounts or you can import with a csv file by clicking on
Student tab
Remember to edit the access codes accordingly for your students to have access to particular
practice tests.
Download the Mapping matrix on the OneDrive
Have students pull their reports to view areas of weakness and refer back to IT Academy for
remediation.
Have students create a customized exam just for them by clicking the red flag on the detail
report page of their chosen practice test.
Good Luck!
