I have had the pleasure of being a colleague of David Koniuchiwskyj over the last three years,
firstly as a student teacher and then as a teacher in our 3/4 team at Moonah Primary School
where I was Principal. David started teaching as part of our Grade 3/4 teaching team for Term
3 of 2015 upon the completion of his degree. David took on the role with optimism and
enthusiasm. He came in over the term break to organise the classroom, creating a welcoming
and engaging environment for the students, as well as to plan a unit of work for the term.
David planned collaboratively with his teaching team during the term and was receptive to
feedback and advice. He sought out feedback during conversations with myself and his
colleagues. He quickly became part of the staff at Moonah, participating regularly in staff
meetings, action research and school activities e.g. excursions, school events. David took on
a class which included a diverse and challenging range of students. He developed excellent
relationships with the students and took extra time and care with those students requiring
extra nurturing and attention.

David is an outstanding young educator. He develops excellent relationships with students

based on mutual respect and trust. He also develops excellent relationships with parents and
colleagues, maintaining ongoing open communication. David sets clear expectations and uses
excellent behaviour management strategies based in restorative practices. He is always calm,
clear and consistent in his behaviour management techniques. Students respond well to his
respectful manner and to the engaging, interesting tasks he set for them. David has an
outstanding ability to manage complex and challenging classroom dynamics.
David is a creative and artistic teacher who utilises these skills to create flexible and engaging
learning environments for his students. He is always well-planned and organised. He is a
valued contributor to his collaborative planning teams. He designs excellent learning
sequences which are differentiated to cater for each students particular learning needs and
strengths.

I highly recommend David for any teaching role as he is capable, organised and efficient and
has a positive, engaging manner which is appreciated by his students and colleagues. I would
