THE WORLD WILL BE MORE FOGGY DUE TO THE WARMING.

The greater number and variety of aerosols associated with greenhouse gases will
produce more heat and more hazy skies. According to a study by the University of
California at Riverside, which relies on a set of computer models, the greater and
variety of aerosols present in the air will increase because of greenhouse gases
(GHG) in a dominated world by climate change linked to global warming.

Aerosols are formed by small solid particles and liquid suspended in the atmosphere
and have a great impact on air quality. They alter the radioactive balance of the
planet, either by dispersion or absorption of sunlight in varying degrees, and thus
contribute to environmental degradation. One of the most visible effects is that the
skies are more hazy, rarefied and unbreathable in some cases.

This new research, published in Nature Climate Change, shows that under
greenhouse-induced warming, most aerosol species will register a strong increase,
with implications for air quality in the future. Climatologist Robert J. Allen, an
assistant professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of
California at Riverside and lead author of the paper, states that this includes both
natural aerosols, dust and sea salt, as to human-induced anthropogenic aerosols,
such as sulfates, coal residues and other organic materials derived from industry,
agricultura or livestock.

In his view, stricter policy measures will be needed to reduce aerosol emissions if
the desired level of air quality is to be achieved in this century. Allen believes that a
rise in greenhouse gases will not only heat the planet more, but will affect the climate
in many different ways. For example, GHGs will alter the hydrological cycle and
large-scale atmospheric circulation. These changes, in turn, will affect air quality and
aerosol distribution irrespective of changes in aerosol emissions: "Changes in the
hydrological cycle and in the atmospheric circulation are complex, but could have
reverse effects in the distribution of aerosols.

GLOBAL WARMING WILL REDUCE GLOBAL WHEAT
PRODUCTION.

According to a study conducted by researchers at the Campus of International Agro-

Food Excellence (CeiA3), published in the journal Nature Climate Change, rising
temperatures on the planet will reduce world wheat production.

According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
(FAO), the global crop of this cereal during the last agricultural year has been 724.9
million tonnes, which is a slight increase over the previous year. This a priori seems
reassuring to the international community, given the food dependence on wheat of
a significant part of the world's population. However, the prospects for the immediate
future are not so optimistic, according to the aforementioned study carried out by an
international team of researchers, including Elas Fereres and Margarita Garca-Vila,
University of Crdoba (UCO) and Instituto de Sustainable Agriculture of the Consejo
Superior de Investigaciones Cientficas, and both members of CeiA3.

The authors of the work warn that for each degree that the temperature rises in the
planet will decrease the production of this cereal by 6%. The conclusion was
obtained from analyzes carried out with 30 models of simulation of the wheat crop in
which the temperatures ranged between 15 and 32 C, combined with the productive
prediction systems used by the main international organisms. By the way, the study
points out that it is necessary to improve those predictive models, which still do not
take into account global warming. The researchers consider it proven that the rise in
temperatures has already begun to affect crops in some areas and urge countries to
adapt their crop forecasting systems in order to be able to deal with declines in grain
reserves with guarantees. Elas Fereres stresses that "there are too many
uncertainties about how climate change will affect food production, but there is a
certainty: we will have to study how to adapt our agriculture to the increase in
temperature and the more we invest in such research, the less will be the impact of
global warming in the future. "

EARTH, MORE IN DANGER THAN EVER

There is growing evidence that our planet melts. One of the most striking we have is
very close in time: 2014 was the warmest year since the records began in 1880,
although it did not take much of a difference with those who preceded, yes, all
belonging to the twenty-first century. Who is guilty?

The main culprit is man, as pointed out in the last report of the IPCC (International
Panel of Climate Change). Although throughout the history the natural climatic
evolution of the planet has undergone ups and downs, the humans have been
protagonists of the global warming of the last century; proof of this is the emission of
gases that retain the heat to enhance the desired modern life.

This exorbitant increase in the temperature of the Earth, which during the past year
was 0.69 degrees higher than the average of the 20th century, causes glaciers to
become gradually liquefied, with the consequent rise in sea level, phenomena that
in a future can lead to devastating consequences.

Sea ice at this point plays an important role, as it is a fundamental component of the
climate system. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center in the United
States, in 2014, the minimum annual daily sea ice extent in the Arctic, observed on
September 17, was 5.02 million square kilometers, the sixth the lowest ever
recorded.

The atmosphere also suffers

The state and behavior of the atmosphere are also affected by the action of the
human being and the current model of society. Felling forests, without going further,
eliminates a significant source of moisture and carbon dioxide absorption.

According to experts, the increase of this gas in the atmosphere further increases
the greenhouse effect, not to mention the destruction of ecosystems by eliminating
humid climates. Other growing problems, such as pollution and overpopulation, are
also damaging without turning back the atmosphere and the planet on which we live.
