1 DESCRIPTION
MT30 allows safe loading and unloading of mobile tanks (mounted on trucks, wagons or trolleys, oil drum etc.) in which flammable substances are poured at high speed
generating electrostatic charges that can cause sparks and explosions.
To prevent the accumulation of static electricity, the device verifies that the correct connection to ground is performed before starting the loading procedure, in this way
dangerous situations due to failures and human errors can be avoided. The device MT30/1 is connected through a bipolar cable, perhaps wound in a cable reel, and
clamped to a mobile tank.
Alternatively, with MT30/2, it is possible to connect separately two cables with corresponding clamps, e.g. one to the trailer and one to the semitrailer
The type of protection is Ex-d [ia] IIB T6 Ex-d[ia] A21 IP66 T85C that is given by an explosion proof housing in which are installed zener barriers (ia circuits)
to connect the cable and the clamps.

7 CALIBRATION SENSIBILITY
ELECTRONIC KEY
The same ELECTRONIC KEY useful for calibration allows executing the CALIBRATION operations without
opening the device. Put attention in avoiding to leave the ELECTRONIC KEY close to MT30. The use of it is
strictly reserved to technical authorized staff only.

CALIBRATION SENSIBILITY
Calibration allows to the electronics to increase or decrease sensibility in reading electrical parameters
fig. 11 ELECTRONIC KEY (capacity). Its done by using the electronic key; on a line of 9 leds its possible to read the sensibility level,
increasing or decreasing it.
Calibration must be done at the start-up after having carried out the connections and closed the unit with all the
screws. By means of our exclusive ELECTRONIC KEY based facility its possible in fact to modify the standard
capacitance calibration acting in a safe way from outside of the unit.
The calibration influences in the same way the functionality both the clamps.
To perform the calibration the following operations must be done:
1 Disconnect the clamps (fixed red light)
2 Put the ELECTRONIC KEY on the glass as per fig.12
3 As soon the KEY is detected the red light disappears and a red led appears. That line indicates the calibration
level.
4 Holding the ELECTRONIC KEY in position (fig.12), after 5 seconds the calibration level of sensibility begins
to be modified by lighting every 3 seconds one led more, up to the 9th led all the led are switched off
and only one led appears
5 As greater is the number of led switched on as greater is the set up sensibility
6 Calibration has to be performed at the maximum sensibility you need
7 Then remove the ELECTRONIC KEY when the wanted sensibility has been reached.

8 BY-PASS

ELECTRONIC KEY
The ELECTRONIC KEY allows executing the BY-PASS operations without to open the device. Put attention
in avoiding to leave the ELECTRONIC KEY close to MT30. The use of it is strictly reserved to technical
authorized staff only.
Every MT30 is supplied with an ELECTRONIC KEY inside; it has to be removed once the unit has been
installed.
fig. 13 ELECTRONIC KEY
BY-PASS (only for RESISTIVE/CAPACITIVE)
In very particular conditions with excessive humidity or when trucks have conductive tires, the electrical
characteristics of a tank-truck can change making identification impossible. In this case the ELECTRONIC
KEY can be used to BY-PASS the trucks detection function and force the permissive contacts.
In this condition putting the ELECTRONIC KEY in the position illustrated in fig.14 is possible to obtain
however the consent placing. When the KEY is detected MT30 marks it with the fixed green light. The
BY-PASS only remains active until the uncoupling of the clamps. Function BY-PASS excludes the single
control of acknowledgement of the tanker and it does not compromise the relative functions to the
emergency. The BY-PASS works only with the connected clamps and the red light active blinking.

fig.14 ECTRONIC KEY position for BY_PASS BY-PASS doesnt work when MT30 displays the breakdown of the inner circuit of grounding
by means of red/green alternated blinking.

13 CABLE REEL TYPE CR 1 FIFFED WITH SELF-RELEASING CLAMP SRC-2

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
The cable reel type CR 01 can be used only for connecting the self-releasing clamp
SRC-2 to the grounding unit device type MT30.
The cable reel must be used exclusively in an intrinsically safe circuit and by skilled
personnel of the proper functioning.
Constantly check that the equipment is perfectly efficient without any anomaly
which might damage persons or things.
INSTALLATION
The equipment must be installed in appropriate way to avoid damages to persons
or things. I M P I A N T I

The electric connection of the CABLE to the grounding unit device shall be carried
out to skilled personnel, make sure that the connection cable isnt damaged by the
movement of the same cable reel.
The cable reel must be fixed to a rigid surface by the SWIVELLING BRACKET
supplied with the equipment.
INSTRUCTION FOR USE
The cable reel is equipped with a spring for cable winding, such spring is always
loaded for this reason either during winding and unwinding the cable must be
always accompanied and never left free.
The equipment is provided with cable blocking, this device intervenes when you
extract and release slowly the cable.
For winding the cable its necessary to extract it till the block device is
disconnected and release it following the movement.
When the cable has been unwound, make sure that it isnt unintentionally touched
to avoid an accidental release with consequent uncontrolled winding-up.
MAINTENANCE
The CR01 Cable reel is equipped with a preloaded spring; any servicing operation
must then be performed by authorized and adequately trained personnel; improper
maintenance performed by non trained personnel may result either in a failure of
the cable reel or hazards to people
Periodically check the efficiency of the cable and reel to avoid that insulation losses
due to abrasions or cuts might affect its use.
Periodically clean the cable, avoid detergents or solvents which might turn out to
be incompatible with the materials of the cable or reel.
Any disassembly must be carried out by skilled personnel to avoid serious risks due
to the pre-loaded spring.
