RESEARCH Graduate Research Associate Winter 2010

EXPERIENCE Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Ohio State University
Advisor : Dr. P. Sadayappan
• Working on the problem of Hardware Characterization for High Performance
Computing and Compiler Optimization.
• Working with benchmarking tools such as HPCToolkit to characterize loops and
parallelize them using Polyhedral Compiler Model.
• Working on parallelizing Multi-Grid Heat Gradient Solver code using Global Ar-
rays.
Student Research Intern Spring 2009
Reconfigurable and Intelligent Systems Engineering Group
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
• Behavioral Modeling of Mission-Critical circuits using Bluespec - A behavioral
HDL.
• Formal verification of behaviorally modeled circuits with FormalPro.

PROJECTS Linux Kernel Development Project Fall 2011

Designed and Developed a Fair-Share Process Scheduler and a Ext2-like filesystem.

Compiler Project Spring 2010

Designed and Developed 6 modules of a Compiler in C++ using ROSE compiler infras-
tructure. The modules were Scanner, Lexical Analyzer, Pretty Printer, Intermediate
Code Generator, Control Flow Analyser.

Lisp Interpreter Project Winter 2010

Designed and Developed an Interpreter in C for a subset of the LISP functional lan-
guage.

Parallel Programming Project Winter 2010

Optimized a computational Jacobi kernel for CPU using Intel SSE and for GPU using
CUDA. Achieved speedup of 55x on the latter.

An optimized search engine through parallel processing using CUDA Fall 2008
The project proposal was selected to be presented at ITalent08-09 conducted by Con-
federation of Indian Industry (CII). The central idea was to use parallel graph search
algorithms optimized for GPGPU to be used in the server farms that are employed in
searching and indexing for search engines.

Java 3D Envelope API Spring 2008

The paper was shortlisted among top 100 papers in the national event, HPINNO-
VATE’08 conducted by HPLabs. The paper attempted to merge and utilize several
different APIs to create a single API that can enable platform independant gaming.

EXTRA- Semi-professional Violinist

CURRICULAR • Recorded album in Oscar Winner A R Rahman’s studio after being adjudged
ACTIVITIES winner of state-wind band talent hunt.
• Have performed at various Carnatic Classical recitals as well as Carnatic-Fusion
band concerts.
