Clause 6.8.7.2 Simple method

Strength of fillet weld/mm length = Pw x throat Area

Throat size a = 0.7 x leg length S
a = 0.7 x 6 mm
= 4.2 mm

Hence, Strength of weld = ( 220 x 4.2 x 1 )/10^3

= 0.924 kN/mm length
= 13 mm

= 170 mm
