1944 D Day

The invasion of Normandy was the invasion by and establishment of

western allied forces in Normandy, during operation overlord in 1944. The
forces that were there that day were united states, Canada, free French,
united kingdom, and the Germans. The Normandy invasion began with
overnight parachute and glider landings, massive air attacks, and naval
bombardments.
 1945

The united states drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The Soviet Union also
declares war on japan and invades Manchuria. The united states drops an
atomic bomb on Nagasaki. The Japanese knew that they were losing this battle
and then the Japanese decided to end the war. If the Japanese did not end the
war the united states would of kept dropping bombs.
 1946
The league of nations was an international organization, headquartered in
Geneva, Switzerland. Created after the world war to provide a forum for
resolving international disputes. The league of nations was disbanded in 1946
and the united states never joined the league of nations.
 1947

The Roswell UFO incident is the worlds most famous UFO calm. The US military
stated that it was merely a conventional weather balloon. The Roswell army air
field had said that his crash was a weather balloon. This incident was one of the
first incidents which the government tried to cover it up.
 1949

Jack Roosevelt Jackie Robinson was an major league baseball second base
man. He is the first African American to play the major leagues in the modern
era. In 1949 Jackie Robinson had won the national most valuable player award
in 1949. later in his career he would become one of the most dominant
baseball players of all time.
1950
The Korean war was a war between north and south Korea in
which the united states fought for the south. Also the Chinese
fought for the north and the Soviet union assisted the north. The
total civilians killed/wounded were at least 2.5 million. The war
started in June of 1950 and ended in July of 1953.
 1954

The Algerian war was the independence between France and the
Algerian independence movements. Which led to Algerian gaining its
independence from France a important decolonization war. This war
started in November 1, 1954 the war was also a civil war.
 1954
The first Indochina war began in French Indochina on 19 December 1946
and lasted until 1 August 1954. The fighting was between the French
forces and their Viet minh opponents in the south. This war and some
others were know as proxy wars to start off the cold war.
