Future Tense Use in Language

There are five types of future as a verb tense. Each one has a different meaning and
consequently are used in different contexts in the real language use, but all of them are
used to talk about situations, actions and events in the future. They are divided in
fufure simple, future continuous, progressive future, perfect future and the future used
with present simple (to talk about timetable events).

Structure
Affirmative sentences:

subject + auxiliary verb will + main verb in the infinitive + complement


subject + auxiliary verb going to + main verb in the infinitive + complement
subject + auxiliary verb am / are + main verb in the gerund + complement
subject + auxiliary verb will have + main verb in the participle + complement
subject + main verb in the present simple + complement

Negatives sentences:

subject + wont + main verb in the infinitive + complement


subject + not + auxiliary verb going to + main verb in the infinitive + complement
subject + auxiliary verb am / are + not + main verb in the gerund + complement
subject + auxiliary verb wont have + main verb in the participle + complement
subject + main verb in the present simple + complemment

Interrogative sentences:

auxiliary verb will / wont + subject + main verb in the infinitive + complement
auxiliary verb going to + subject + main verb in the infinitive + complement
auxiliary verb am / are + subject + main verb in the gerund + complement
auxiliary verb wont have + subject + main verb in the participle + complement
to be verb + subject + main verb in the infinitive + complement

streaming service Netflix.

Grammar
The sentence in bold is in the simple present tense. It is expressing a prediction not
based on present or past evidence.

Diana The Misfits

The Misfits is an American punk rock band often recognized as the progenitors of
the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror
film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, the original lineup
consisted of Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martnez.

Grammar

There are two uses of the simple future in this song's lyric excerpt: in the first one we
have the idea of a promise, in the second one the idea expressed is a prediction not
based on evidences.

There are four uses of the going to (all the cases we can observe the contraction
gonna something very common in the American English) and all of them are
expressing intentions thought about in the moment of speaking but we can also interpret
them as planned future event.

Both the sentences are expressing intentions by its subject. In the first one, the intention
is to require more graduates, on the other hand, the second one express the intention
of the students to go to university.

The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex in 1976. The band
has experienced several line-up changes, with vocalist, guitarist, and principal
songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member.

Grammar

The sentences in bold in the present simple are expressing the idea of future because in
the first line the poetic I is saying he/she does not care if Monday (that will come)
will be blue all Mondays are blue for he/she. The same idea serves to Tuesday: he/she
does not care if Tuesday will be gray, like the other Tuesdays. Thursday he/she never
care about his/her lover, but on all Fridays he/she is in love about his/her lover.
*It was difficult to find another contextual use of this form of future, so that
is why we put only this one. We hope you enjoy it, professor!
