1.) COMMUNICATION SETUP (skip to CONFIGURATION UPLOAD)
Set the IP Address of your computer according to the IP Address of the Relay. Use the
test port 1 (LAN 1) of relay. Take note that only the first three group of numbers should be the
same. For example the relay IP Address is 198.120.000.001, the IP Address of your computer
should be 198.120.000.002, 198.120.000.255 or any as long as the first three groups of numbers
are the same and the last group of numbers is different.

1.a) Checking the IP Address of Relay.

Press for main menu
Use the arrow buttons to browse for the communication settings
Main Menu Settings Device Setup Comm Settings
LAN 1 is used for the test port in front of the Relay.

3.) CONFIGURATION UPLOAD

Uploading configuration is the main process of making back-up of the relay. Also, it
should always be done before making changes to the configuration of the program.

It is essential to know the reference during download/upload. Generally, the reference

is the relay itself. Therefore, uploading means to copy the configuration from the relay to your
computer.

Open PCS-Explorer Software

Go to File New
Enter Substation Name
Enter directory or location where you want to save the configuration
Click OK, you should see the created substation file in the left side of
the softwares window.
Right click the Substation and select New device

Select the tab From Online Driver, and enter the desired device name
and IP address of the relay (LAN1).

Click OK and after a few seconds, the configuration will be uploaded

successfully.
Right Click the Uploaded Configuration and click Compress Driver File,
this is to compress the configuration into a single, and smaller size file. It
is always recommended to do this step.

After compression, a download option file prompt will pop-up. Click

cancel.

Downloading of configuration is usually done when necessary changes are being applied to
the configuration such as LED alarm/trip designation, addition of binary output contacts, enabling
other functions etc. Always make back-up configuration and settings (by uploading) before making
changes or download new configuration to the relay.

The first step is to enable the download function in the relay. Use the
arrow keys to access Main Menu Local Cmd Download.

In the PCS-Explorer software, Right-click the device you want to

download and select Compress driver File. The software will compress
the configuration for the preparation of download process.
A prompt will pop-up, check the first option and click OK.

Enter IP Address of relay, click OK.

Check the device you want to download (usually automatically checked)

8|Page
Click Download

After a few seconds, the software will ask if you want to replace the CID
file. It depends, you may check the Replace device.cid in device
especially when the function configuration is customized. If function
configuration not changed, no need to check especially when the relay
is already connected to SCADA. Then click OK.

The relay now will start downloading. After successful downloading, an

error message will pop-up. This is normal because the software
detected that the relay is rebooting.

Configuration download is finished.
If the device/relay is not in healthy state, use the relay keys to
navigate and select confirm settings the found in SETTINGS menu.
If relay is still not healthy, check and reconfigure the hardware
configuration based on the actual hardware of relay and download
again.
